Letters strewn on floor as thieves break into Bromsgrove post box

BROMSGROVE residents concerned about their mail should contact Royal Mail after thieves broke into a post box in the town.

The theft was discovered at 9am on Monday morning after a woman found unprocessed mail on rough ground by a footpath off the Birmingham Road.

Police are appealing for information after thieves forced the post box open near the filling station at the junction of Birmingham Road and Golden Cross Lane on Sunday, August 1.

Between 30 and 40 letters were found, of which around half have been traced back to a local company.

Pc Simeon Darrall-Jones said: “A substantial amount of damage was caused to the post box and it appears the thieves made off from the scene on foot. If anyone believes they know who was responsible I would urge them to get in touch.”

Mail was last collected from that post box at 11.30am on Saturday, July 31, and anyone concerned about mail they have posted there since then should contact Royal Mail Customer Services on 08457 740740.
