in our office we start mon- friday 6.30 - 14.30 and saturday is 6.00 - 14.00 , bang goes all your sport and stuff on a sat.

I see my unique style of humour is lost on some people. I am as annoyed as the rest of you. Especially when I see the competition out and about each day at seven in the morning when our letters are STILL going though the WSM.

Our lateness out is a deliberate action - this once great company has been run down and is now a laughing stock and there is precious little we can do about it, espicially since the CWU are now colluding with Royal Mail just so they can survive.

Millions spent on new machines and technology and we are out later?

Until recently we've started at 5am so to be pushed back by a full hour and half totally kills any chance of doing anything worthwhile on a saturday or saturday afternoon.

What a bag of s**t this job has become.

Yep, it sure has become the job from hell. Absolutely no consideration given to the put-upon postie, either by the RM club for executive buffoons, or the organisation that should be protecting our terms & conditions at work, the hopelessly inept CWU.
It's going to be a mighty hard thing for me, but the very minute I'm told that I'll be forced to work later on a Saturday, my days of being a member of a trade union are well and truly over.
That, and the enforced increase in junk mail leaflets, the straws that finally broke this camel, should really be donkey's, back.

Our new manager tried to put our start time back to 6.30am on saturdays, our rep was off so I text hime what the manager had triied to do, within an hour the rep was in a meeting with the DOM and when we got back from delivery we had a message on the noticeboard saying start times were not changing after all and the new manager apologised for any inconvenience!

Something to do with the 2007 agreement, managers cannot just change start times without going throught the correct procedures whatever they are, so for now we revert back to 5.30am starts on saturdays......stay strong people, stay strong

Ours will be changing soon I would think - today we got in at 6 and 3 boxes of sequenced mail were already thrown in the frame and had been since 5am, the last box came in at 9am - 4 hours later. Modernisation at it's best

Not as bad as what we have been told. Get this.... When our start times are put back to 8am we will get the £1000. Ha bloody ha.

Well at least if the official start time is later you can get in early and still finish early. With an earlier start time you don't have the option of getting in late and finishing later. Personally I'd like it to go 9-5 as this would suit me best and allow me to get my social life back. I know however this is not what the majority wants, merely what I would prefer to allow me to go and get wasted like I used to I sure do miss it

Is there not something in this new agreement about tailoring to peoples needs when it comes to working hours? More flexibility or something?

Your office could if they want to have even later starts/finishes for certain duties,packet runs/collections.rle opening later.
It's not impossible.

No where in the national agreement does it state that you have to start later, only that the hours need to aliegn to where the work is and most offices even with walk sequencing will have work from 0500.

dingo is very careful with his words isn't he.
They might have work from 0500 but enough to sustain a full office?.....i don't think so and certainly not in ours.
Staggered starts i'm afraid....that's what aligning the work with the hours means in a lot of cases POSTMAN.
