Thats where i got my bike
i used the full £500,
the bike i originally wanted was £514, but i was denied that as it was £14 over the limit,
i offered to pay the excess in cash, or have it taken out of the £75 that you are given for accessories,
but was told i couldn't do that
so i settled on a bike for £440, i was lucky that they allowed me to spend the remaining £60 on accessories,
normally, they are quite strict and could have refused that.
when the 18 month period for paying the installments for your bike is complete, what happens ?
i'm still paying for mine, without checking my payslips, i'm pretty sure, i've been paying for approx' 20 months ?
would i contact payroll or halfords ?

Its all there. The government have changed the tax rules and RMG are awaiting developments and guidance. Whether its permanent or not depends on the changes and impact of them.
My advice is keep visiting the site till an announcement is made.

Yes apparently at the end of the 18 mths you pay a collection and disposal fee of around £34 and the bike is then yours.....
Regards insurance the letter of the law is you do insure the cycle, as if it is stolen your contributions will continue till the end of the 18 mths.... Personally I haven't bothered, i'm covered on my home insurance at home and i'll take my chances if it gets nicked away from home.....
What will happen at the end of the hire period?
The bike and safety equipment is provided by Royal Mail Group Limited and there is no automatic entitlement for you to take ownership of this at the end of the hire period. Royal Mail Group will charge you a £35 collection/disposal charge at the end of the period. If Royal Mail Group chooses to give you the option to purchase the equipment at the end of the hire, there may be a tax liability which for a £500 bike will be no more than £9 for a basic rate taxpayer or £18 for a higher rate taxpayer.

you keep it for 35 pound plus 9 pound for hmrc as my coleague has just finished paying and kept bike, i am now going to do cycle2work does anyone know if you can get a web exclusive bike from halfords on this scheme?
