Re: lapsing at all costs.
We were told yesterday that we are lapsing another 3 rounds for the summer even though the rounds we lapse now and often have parts left coz we don't have time. The 3 new rounds which are being lapsed are part of my float duty and I have been told I will be moved to a different round. Can I demand to stay on my float rounds as I signed for those rounds?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: lapsing at all costs.
Its all true! our office the dom is acting like absorption is part of workload.
I refuse if i don't have the time. but im then being asked to take the lapsing with me
I still refuse as that just means iv got to choose what to bring back.
Dom is now questioning my work rate RE sorting/ delivery.
Funny thing is iv never cut of my delivery and always get my duty done.
its a problem only since iv refused to absorb
how right can it be question my workrate because i
havent arrived back early and don't have supposed spare time?
ps I do absorb on a Tuesday I'm not about standing around idle or stringing it out.

Wonder if this lapsing is going on everywhere - especially where there is a predominance of full timers, even part timers have to lapse in this office.chunk wrote:Its all true! our office the dom is acting like absorption is part of workload.

Re: lapsing at all costs.
RM realize people are starting to question pegasus inputs regarding walking speed, terain etc.
they milked it for all its was worth first time round.
They are now trying a different tack ie use the summer savings agreement, hammer it
and then their hoping when summers over they will just continue all year round.
Trust me big push on absorbtion coming soon.
If you don't already.

Re: lapsing at all costs.
8hrs work for 8 hrs pay ,40mins meal relief 1/6 D2D, if scope exists then lapsing included.
Now if you want to come in 2hrs early unpaid, work your meal relief and spend your own money to subsidise RM profits with private car use then you will get more lapsing
Still you can always blame the union

Re: lapsing at all costs.
I got a new lapse today - it's bigger than the old one (apparently we're now "absorbing" 10 duties instead of 6). Together with Sky Mags and Tesco Clubcard stuff (oh and two D2Ds) ... made it the heaviest Monday I've had in my brief (five weeks) life on the streets ...
"We're under model" - oh no we're not - stick your lapse elsewhere ...

Re: lapsing at all costs.
we are now lapsing 7 days in our DO
i took back a full back of mail after i ran out of time on Saturday
i was still required to lapse as i "would be fine"
the day before it took a guy 4;10 to do the duty with no packets,SD's,tracked or lapsing and he got out early
ah well,lino knows best...................

And there my friends is the one and only reason things are the way they are.dvbuk55 wrote:You're spot on postman. All hours must be worked - the strange thing is people still come in early without pay to prep their walk, set in their D2D and then do a lapsed duty also without payPOSTMAN wrote:The reason that some of you will lapse or absorb is because you can!
Yes there are cases like shimmy but lets be honest,if you lapse/absorb say for silly figures sake 25% of your duties on a daily basis and it works then RM are going to continue doing it.
Massive savings.![]()

No, it's because of mismanagement, competition, deregulation, loss of profit (yes the profit is rising now but only because of the cuts) and the fact that sh*t always rolls downhill and we're the surfs at the bottom if it.postghost wrote:And there my friends is the one and only reason things are the way they are.
Does anybody seriously think for one minute that if we all strolled around and went to our time every day then RM would just leave us all alone and ask for no more hours/lapsing/cuts, and we'd all be chugging away every day and live happily ever after?
And some people have the cheek to call people that finish early stupid.
