Work that one out then POSTMAN.
  So --let me get this right--the steeper the terrain, the FASTER we go DOH! :d'oh! No prizes for guessing who dreamed this one up!(Maybe they've only thought about us coming back down the hills? ??? !)
Walks will be desined to be going down hill whereever possible if they are not then these times would be adjusted. Equally these times are when walking between delivery points , additional time is alloted for path lengths , flats , attendance calls etc.

Please remember the IWT or geo route is an indivdual performance measurement and can be adjusted by speaking to the indivdual performing the walk. It is purely a should take time measurement. Remember if your not at 100bsi then everything can be reduced to take account of this as well.

 Dingo--I'm not sure wether to take your post seriously--especially the part about adjustments as per the indivdual and walk!! When you point out to the planners they have got it all wrong, and they have not made allowances for certain factors--guess what? They say you are either lying or being too slow, or if you are unfortunate enough to have your walk tested, they falsify the results just so they can say they have got the planning right!
But how on earth are they going to plan the walks to all go downhill wherever possible? Tongue in cheek I have to ask what are these plotters and planners on, to come up with such ludicrous nonsense?
I can see the day when we'll all have to line up on blocks and charge out the office at the same time.

Are they going to test them with a fit 20year old or a fat 50year old dingo?

Hello Stokes,

From what I have seen some of it is now adjustable. The "yellow" cells on the IWT and Geo route can be adjusted. For example the BSi. Once you adjust it down everything changes.
The Flats can now be "opened" up on the Geo Route too,(some flats have boxes downstairs and some are door to door). It depends on what we put in it.For example DO NOT put lifts in flats.Always stairs. Remember if you put "s**t" in this thing it comes out with s**t.,(or you plan it on budget, like the old days...now that was s**t!)

The planners used to tell us blah blah blah. Not now. They now merely "facilitate" the rep. The "one to ones",make sure your rep is in there. Every crack in the pavement, every drive.Maisonettes take longer because of the entrance etc etc.

You A+ has to be spot on.

As for the knocking on doors for packets. It is down as 78 seconds.Turns out the officer,(one of ours by the way) who done it had written out the 739 BEFORE they went out...

They never learn..... :no no

What a load of cobblers

There is no additional time built in for packets, specials or recorded deliveries. Our manager has being trying to find this one out due to some walks coming back as ridiculously short and the whiz kid on the computer planning the duties trying to make them bigger to suit new times.

Would love to see some of those coming up with these ideas pushing a HCT at full capacity (105kg) hit those stupid speeds.

The planks that agreed to this want lining up against a wall and shooting for treason and the damage they are going to cause to thousands of peoples health.
Quite right, question is are Billy, Dave and Bob ready for their last cigarette?

 Hi.DRB--believe you me, they only adjust what they want to! Seriously, on my walk, and many others I loose about four seconds per door on hundreds of houses, due to the garages being built on to pavements, and the cars being parked in front of them. it works out at about twenty minutes in all, and they will not take this into account.! I wouldn't mind, but the Manager who tested this walk, falsified my finishing time! (And just for the record, I left him trailing on the walk!)

The light weight trolleys are designed for park&loop dingo.
How do you design a park&loop duty to go downhill....there is the slight problem of the van. :chuckle
If you park it at the bottom of the hill you have to work up the hill before you can work back down to it.
And if you park it at the top....well you get the picture....i hope. :nervous

So what do they do in San Francisco?
On their undulating hills?
(The Streets of San Francisco - now that was classic tv.)
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.
