i'm with you dblad, they can swivel. :dance you can not keep up a consistant rate for 4 or more hours, anybody with half a brain would realise that but then we are dealing with a type of species that has not got even that!

Ask your average fat lazy lino to test.

Great idea, can we get our managers to show us just how easy the job is and set the required standard. Could be useful for killing a few of them off too!

Why not Get Billy, Dave, Dingo, Moira, Paul Tolhurst and the other top geezer to go out and test their walking speeds on various rounds. If those that implement cant do it then why the f-ck do they expect us to do it. Here we have a good cross section of people to test their own theory.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

I don't see that it matters what the figures are. If there is no limit anymore on the length of a delivery span then so what if they think it is 3.5 hours and you think it's 4?

Dingo is that the average walking speed including all the necessary stops ?(waitin at doors for signatures, checking mail on doorstep etc etc)
This is important because I have tested my delivery using a more reliable GPS method. My walking speed was variable depending on terrain and slowing down and speeding up but max about 3.5 MPH (brisk) My staiontionary time was about nearly an hour and my average walking speed over the entire delivery was 2.1 MPH over 3.5 hours giving an overall distance of about 7.3 miles.
I put it to you that to have a reliable time to input you must verify the speed with GPS in the real world. Only then will you have a true picture of events. Yes we are all different in abilities so will diversity play its part? Can a fat 50+ work the same pace as a fit 20 yearold? This is a huge dilemma to solve! But it MUST be addressed before you roll it out nationally!!

These are just travelling speeds Rennie.
If it was inclusive of call times and replenishment you would have to sprint like Usain Bolt between the doors.
I have heard that the new Cat Trainers have been re-designed though. :chuckle

  So --let me get this right--the steeper the terrain, the FASTER we go DOH! :d'oh! No prizes for guessing who dreamed this one up!(Maybe they've only thought about us coming back down the hills? ??? !)
