BROTHER and sister posties swapped mail bags for back packs when they walked the West Highland Way to raise over £5,000 for St Richard’s Hospice.
Dawn Powell, 47, and her brother, David Baglin, 46, who both live in Droitwich Spa, trekked the 152km (92 miles) from Glasgow to Fort William, finishing underneath Britain’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis.
The duo crossed the Highland moors, forests and lochsides during their challenge in June. The funds were boosted by match giving from Royal Mail and also donations from their ‘rounds’. Dawn’s round takes in Rushock and part of Cutnall Green, while David delivers round Tibberton.
St Richard’s Hospice fundraising manager Tricia Cavell said: “This is a fantastic achievement for them both to raise such a great sum to help us care for our patients and their families. The challenge sounded very memorable and we are truly grateful for Dawn and David’s support.”
St Richard’s Hospice provides free specialist palliative care for patients living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses and supports their families.
