It handles 3.2 million items per day and has just invested £15 million in new machinery and technology as part of Royal Mail''s modernisation programme.
It handles the mail for Fife, Perthshire, Dundee and Angus, Edinburgh and the Lothians, The Scottish Borders and Central Scotland including Stirling and Falkirk.
The tour will show what happens from mail collected from post boxes and Post Offices - right through the whole sortation process to the mail being despatched to it''s onward connections. James Jack, who is the Edinburgh Mail Centre Manager will conduct the tour and short presentation along with a few of his colleagues.
Registration with tea and coffee is at 3.30pm with the tour commencing at 4pm. Places are £10 + vat and are limited to one per member company and are on a first come first served basis so book early to avoid disappointment.
There is limited parking at the Centre so a bus has been arranged. It will leave Fife Chamber offices at 2.45pm with a pick-up at Ferrytoll Park & Ride at 3.05pm. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
