I may have got the wrong end of the stick here but I'm sure I read somewhere that we were trialling an electric version. I think the idea was that you only used the motor to aid you with the times when pushing alone was too difficult.

Even so, if it is electric, you'll still be walking it. If it was like a mini milk float then at least you'd have some relief from the constant pounding the streets?

I remember a guy coming in to the office years ago when I was a trolley user and we all went to the canteen and he showed us pictures of these new motor trolleys which you could really load up with mail. However when I asked him about terrain and would they help us with hills he told us that they could only cope with a slight incline.
They looked a lot better than pushing the smegger around and I was well up for testing one but was told that the installation for charging points was to expensive for our office budget. That was the end of it.

Already had van duties collapsed. Most vans now cant cope with the extra thats been added to them. From today 5 vans being sent back! Not got enough vans to cope as it is. Cant wait for tomorrow. Collection guy "wheres my van." Take a wild guess, still out on delivery. Going to be fun. Went an hour over today & still brought back 11 parcels. No one listens when you say you cant do it. Already got 12 duties collapsed every day. Now we have been told there will be more next week. Got my plan though. Going to cost a bit a money to start but it will get me away from all this crap. Getting letters next week for vr's. Think management will have one hell of a shock by how many are going to apply. Sorry for going a bit off track, still p****d off from this mornings slanging match with the bosses.

No need to say sorry i know how you feel Its one painfull step forward with the agreement and then BANG ten backwards with removing vans and trashing duties with this sudden cost cutting

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been. My BFF Clash The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.
Our office is to lose one van. If i'm honest i reckon our fleet could be used better. But there exists two problems.
1. Managers thinking and managing the fleet.
2 Moving fulltime guys whose duties (they picked) walk straight from office into the spare capacity of the vans which leave.
Then the part-time guys who start 1 hour after the vans leave can fill these duties nearby office. No spare van for taking men out needed. Would it be fair to move people? i'm not sure

3. we have plenty of car users. When they stop. the above is irrelevant, we'd be fooked with or without the van

Heard that one of the newer Combi vans is being taken out of our office due to this. It's completely rediculous though as they are leaving 2 completely unroadworthy Sherpa vans in the office. One of them has its front passenger seatbelt clip held on by rubber bands I told the managers about it and they pretty much just shrugged.

re my bold, that's because we are expendable, they would save on VRs if we get ourselves killed in a RTA.
