Re: Dingo - Unmeasured Work Areas
I think you'll find that you should be doing that in your own time. Before commencing duty or during your excessively long meal relief. Each day a different member of staff will be required to shove a broom up their a*@e and sweep the floor as they are clearing down thus saving the cleaners hours.

Re: Dingo - Unmeasured Work Areas
Dingo and Uphillstruggle
Thanks for your help.
Now today the Manager and me played with IWT, filled in all the inputs and for the life of us both gave out some totally out there figures.
Monday It says 70.9 Hours over, but Tuesday 20 .3 Hours Under and the best bit Thursday and Friday 70.2 and 70.6 Hours over again.
Wenesday and Saturday about 20 Hours over. Now i can tell you that Wenesday is normally one of the worst days of the week for us, and
Thurs, Fri Sat are nearly as bad as we have a clear office policy for Sats and we have D2D to do as well.
The Duties so far as we have got look ok in the Duty Manager Tool. Now comes our problem and i'm waiting for ADR to get back to me.
The temp DSM has no interest in anything other than the figures IWT puts out.I was with my Manager today when he talked to the DSM
and i can tell you it was unreal, he just couldn't get him to recognise the other work that takes place and is not accouted for in IWT.
Our Office as i have said before is one of the lucky ones where the Manager wants to do everything fairly and by the book, he also
shares any info he gets and lets me see anything i want to prove he is not holding anything back.
Also i can only imagine what it must be like for those in Offices with DickHead Dims who just do as they are commanded to do,
because if what we are going through is anything to go by, the the Reps must be going round the bend in these offices.
Thanks for your help.

Re: Dingo - Unmeasured Work Areas
Shouldn't we ring fence things like queueing for the lift and collection specials. Booking returns back in. Also does every office do 1hr 45min primary sorting before they start their duty?
Plus quite often we get asked to do extra sorting which can mean 2hr-2hr 20.
All seems to me our office will be stitched up. As things go now we are lapsing rounds where time isn't available meaning some guys having to claim ot. Managers are trying their hardest not to pay ot, infact outright saying they wont pay some people. Or, telling them to come in later the next day.
Our Area Manager wants to use the old geo route. He wont listen to adding time for things like queueing up for the lift, specials and booking stuff back in.

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: Dingo - Unmeasured Work Areas
Geezer , Tuesday will be a problem without a doubt to match workload with hours. The important point is can you get an average across the week which means you may go over on some days but under on some but achieve the required performance across the week.
The other issue which you need to ensure is that the IWT is adjusted for sick leave , special leave or other unusal circumstances on a daily basis as hours against workload needs to be based on the facts on the ground
There are a lot of DSMs who are just as confused on the IWT but are being told that is the only show in town and therefore dont want to get into the detail. Its important for the CWU to ensure that we make the IWT as accurate as possible as that can only improve the performance in an office.
People working before their time also distorts the figures especially in the offices they state are in the upper decile
Best of luck !!

Well I think I've just about seen it all now for a union official who subscribes to winners and losers and now tops it off with luck - money well spent I'd say

Naughty Naughty...... I'm trying to get some help you Naughty Man
Thanks for the help Dingo
The point about Tuesday is how can it be the same figure as Thurs and Fri and also more than on Monday when the office only has one wave of mail not two.
Also we do have 4 fulltime vacancies which are not filled so it gets even worse.I will be checking every part of the tool and making sure every input is right no guess work allowed.
Also my area Rep and Branch Sec are Top Dogs and always come running to help me out when ever i call, on top of that i do have a good manager so am one of the lucky one's.

Re: Dingo - Unmeasured Work Areas
WRONG - IWT only takes into account Hours on IPS & PREP and the traffic, so WTLL is irelevant - SIMPLESGeezer wrote:phantomshare wrote:If you have all the other elements of work ie. vehicle maintenance, transporting mail etc. it would surely reduce the hours available for IPS & Prep, so it would reduce the opportunity to lapse/absorb.
I cannot be making myself clear here. So here we go...
DSM says IWT says time to Lapse.
DOM says NO Time to Lapse
I say No Time to Lapse
We Don't Lapse
Now DSM phones DOM and says why are you not lapseing because when i looked at the figures IWT puts out it says you should have time to do lapseing.
DOM says but we had WTL today so had no time to lapse and that IWT does'nt take that time into account.
DSM says he does'nt care if we had WTL because IWT says you had time to Lapse so why did'nt you
ROUND WE GO AGAIN !

You know i am 100% with you on that, It really has left a bad taste in my mouth that the agreement is as 2007 so ambiguous.
I will also say that i admire you sticking by your principles and as you felt you could no longer in all honesty support the leadership and so left the CWU.
Now i know that must have been hard and i felt the same way, but took the alternative view where by i stayed in the hope of changing things for the better
if i could in my own little corner of RM. As regards Dingo, Yes he probably does have an insular view, but don't we all because we all see RM from our own little
universe within the larger solar system that is planet RM. I very much value nearly everything you have to say and at times wish i could put things into words like you and Fishtank do but alas
I'm not that well versed. At the same time i very much appreciate what Dingo has to say, i may not agree with it all but nun the less its as valid as anyone else's. So and its a big SO maybe one day
we will all be in the Naughty Room together and able to sort it all out because in reality like it or not we are all in this together one way or another.

Any type of leave will only have an effect if you lapse any of the indoor element of those duties, otherwise they are irrelevant.dingo wrote:Geezer , Tuesday will be a problem without a doubt to match workload with hours. Geezer - if you are on longs and shorts, then the figures will vary especially on w-f and the traffics low.
I really cannot see how anybody can be confused by this system, hours on ips & prep & traffic - simples
