A POSTMAN was stabbed with a hypodermic needle during a horrifying robbery.
The postman was on his rounds in the Oakerside Drive area of Peterlee when he was attacked from behind.

Police say the 33-year-old man was stabbed with the needle, first in his left shoulder and then on his left hand when he tried to defend himself.

Detectives from Peterlee CID are investigating the attack, which took place in Tees Close, in an alleyway to the rear of Oakerside Drive.

A Durham Police spokesman said: "Police are investigating a robbery which took place in an alley way to the rear of Oakerside Drive, in Peterlee, at around 11.30am on Thursday, July 15.

"The victim was a 33-year-old postman who was attacked from behind while out on his rounds in the area.

"His attacker stole a parcel from the post bag and ran off in the direction of Welland Close.

"The postman was stabbed with a hypodermic needle. We understand he was stabbed in the left shoulder and then again on his left hand when he tried to defend himself."

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "A postman was attacked and knocked to the ground in Tees Close, Peterlee, last Thursday morning.

"An item of mail was stolen in the incident which is being investigated by the police."

oh, that's ok then.. never mind the next 3 months at least of worry and psychological damage whether the needle was contminated or not. hope and pray it was a new needle.. screwdriver..knife, needle...amounts to the same thing...a weapon

clean needle means a stab injury.. contaminated needle is a stab injury with further deteriotion through diseases such as hepatitis or worse.
