I'm not upset. my mate is because why should one postie get it free and the other pays. Plus the fact how many more times do Royal Mail charge the public and nobody really investigates the reason why?
I have told him report the manager and the Ex phg said he will stand by that what the manager said 12 months ago.

If it is a question of being moral - should the recipient be charged at all?

Why then does each customer, that is the person PAYING the postage, just stick a 1p stamp on and expect the recipient to pay for the delivery via a surcharge - imagine how much a company could save on postage.

If it is an overseas item the mail is returned to the sender as having insufficient postage, now why don't we do that for internal mail - because we can charge the recipient here and not someone overseas - my point being if it is possible for one then it should be possible for t'other.

I stick by my mates. If most of Royal Mail workers stuck by each other we would not be the mess we are in today. Don't ask what mess!

The thing is, it's not a perk any more. PHG's used to be able to give them to posties, now they can't due to the penny pinching ways of RM. Wouldn't take it out on the PHG, he's only covering his own back. Like many I usually use my free stamps if there's anything like this.
