That's negotiating right enough :chuckle
Yep,a few chats like that with management,he'll soon have his whatnots. :Very Happy

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Union agreed 3pm last letter towns, 4pm rural, its in the goddam agreement, and has been agreed with PostComm.

Its not up for debate or local agreement, its the USO.

Yeah I understand that Mclovin -BUT what if lets say worst case, Chorley do Leylands missorts 1st and they get there mail at 7am - then they do ours, what time do we expect our mail ?? Lets say 8am - what do we do from 7am to 8am ? And how do we then squeeze 8hrs work into 7hrs in order to finish at 3pm?

To be fair , I dont think our manager knows whats what and he`s just repeating what he`s heard - I dont think anyones got the foggiest ,and its gona be FUBAR for a long long time before it settles down
As I understand the WSM process you will have mail when you arrive at 7am, there will also be packets and flats to sort and the second run of mail will be as Iate as 10 according to dingo - now your guess is as good as anyones as to how this is going to work under the agreement that only exceptionally would a full timer start later than 7 am. Which begs the question of the 75/25 split.

I would have thought the biggest problem is getting the mail to the WSMs in the first place.

If you are a satellite office Jimmy, which by what you say you must be, then push for a 2.30 finish.

Thats what our revision is based on and we are the same as you.

Oh and they have to take FF into account also.

After P&M 2007 they said no mail would be in the office at 5 so we'd have to change our hours to start later to accomodate this, and guess what, there is ALWAYS mail to be sorted at 5, from the lunchtime wagon the day before. They talk utter s**t the lot of them.

You'd need to get another job.

There is of course the part timers whose start time is 9 am and finish time 2 pm of which there will be quite a few - they're still in bed at 8 am or I would be if I was involved.
Not long ago (about 18 months ago I think) our missort run came in at 9.45-10.00 every day. On Tuesdays we were sat around for anything up to 2hrs 30 and the rest of the week at least an hour, so it does happen.

That's the big problem isn't it. If an office is last on the WSM's and gets their last run at 10am there is no way on earth they're getting a 7am start. And it's hardly 'exceptional' as someone will be last from every WSM site!

I didn't say it doesn't happen, merely the information as posted was in error.
