sorting packets into red sleeves

im sure many of you like myself have sorted packets into red sleeves. correct? im sure many of you like me have been told from time to time to"GET A MOVE ON" correct? pretty fair when your chattin too much or havin a laugh. agreed? but have any of you ever been told by a manager SORRY supervisor that you are "throwing them wrong"?????? interesting to see what any union reps or ppl who sort packets all the time have to say on this. my target is 20 replies so get crackin

Not anough information in you post really about what was so wrong.
I can think of ways you could throw them "wrong".
facing away from the york and flicking them backwards over your shoulder.
seriously if we got totally p.c or extreme about health and safety you could walk to every york and "drop" packets in.
this would radically cut your sorting rate!
A short throw 3 or 4 feet preferably not over anyone else's head! i don't see a problem with that.

i was sorting into a (bullring) i was working on my own. bin sortin packets for a pretty long timebut have never been told off for that. baffled me thats all, my opinion of this supervisor has gone way down

I'm not on sorting packets much these days. I'm not boasting, but I think I'm a quite fast sorter,
and I think most of the managers I've worked with would agree with that. I've never had any problems
with most of the managers I've worked with in almost 30 years. But I was talking with someone on my
frame and did wave my right hand about, to emphasise something I was saying, and a manager (not a
regular one on that work area) came running over to shout at me to 'SORT!'.
To be honest I was totally shocked by his attitude. I was still sorting about 3-4 times faster than most
people in that work area. On reflection I think i should have 'pannelled out' and if something like that
happens again I probably will.
Perhaps you should consider doing that too.

only because mail centre staff are NOT working flat out to get an early finish.maybe if you learnt to pace yourself better there may be less job losses in the future.
