i also work i gmc could anyone please explain why we need so many managers on night shift,currently there is 16 when there are less than 200 people that is 1 for every 12 workers,do we really need all these managers don,t think so

You are joking right, our singleton DOM is run ragged with 37 dels, no DOM SPRT & 11 collections, almost feel sorry for the poor git.

Day 7489247 in the Big glasgow mail center!!

Has anyone noticed that the seat cleaning stuff in the toilets ran out ages ago and has never been replaced?
Im sure that the dispensers in the toilets next to the warehouse have never been filled?
Where does it all go? are the first line fix people taking it home or selling it on the brown market?????

Also while the big fridge in the staff kitchen is broke! i suggest that everyone should be limited to putting one sandwich in the small fridge!

Finally!! which section is the hardest working?? and which section to the hardest men and women work?????

The answer to this is obvious!!! While JT is "ABSENT" more 'managers' are required to cover his heavy workload!
Also have you seen how much shift allowance they get!!?

Another day in the hot house!!

I love nothing more that getting sweat patches on my dust jacket!

No news to report! nobody misbehaving! we are the honest foot soldiers of royal mail!! not that we actually walk outside or deliver mail! unless you count nipping over to tesco to buy some grub cause the canteen is hmmmmm rank?

Noticed a few 'managers' ramdomly putting the brakes on yorks! Well done them!

Good news! the big fridge is fixed!

Why aren't you putting the brakes on yourselves?
Although it's rare, I've seen accidents which were caused by not putting the brakes on those things (usually someone bumping into the york, and shunting it into someone). And it only takes a second to put it on.

Much as I hate to admit it. It looks like they were in the right this time.

Its fun to watch people try to move a york they think is un-braked! you can almost hear their shoulders sliding out thier sockets!! I believe in safe systems of work! its just the blind ignorance of the implementation i struggle with!

I wouldnt say we had a bad canteen! its just the food is bland, overpriced, badly cooked, slightly dangerous at times and served by people who grudge actually having to deal with customers!

I guess we've both got something to learn from each other here. I've never come across someone hurting themselves, because they didn't know that a York had it's brakes on. And you don't seem to have come across someone being hurt, because one is shunted into them.

I think the reason that we've not had problems with people trying to move Yorks with the brakes on. Is because the vast majority of us use the brakes, so people look before they move them. But you've got a good point about people being caught out, if they're not expecting the brakes to be on. I think it's probably something that the H&S Reps need to look into. There has to be a safe way to avoid both risks.
