not that bad really, all data checked & hours replicate DMS, ran wk13 'S INC d2d, had lapsed 20 of 90 hr of AWD
for week, still showed 3 hrs to much & lapsed 60hr of prep out of 270, showed 10hrs short on prep - overall 101 BSI.
If your unit has a few vacancies, it is easier to lapse indoor & then flex up when traffic picks up again. Will make you & your
DOM'S life easier with his new DSM, problem is if you have either a) no vacancies or b) alot of F/T employees then it is not that easy to remove (flexdown) the indoor hours, what make up has your office got?

Exactly the problem my D.O has, too many OPG's assigned to IPS. Why because the D.O is planned mainly around FT urban delivery jobs with a fixed delivery span and then you have to find enough indoor work to get to FT hours that the majority of staff are contracted to. IPS at my D.O is lasting for a shorter amount of time than ever before.
Surely then, people must realise, especially at this time of year, the need to lapse. We are trying to get the summer effeciency savings
out of indoor rather than out though, problem comes with W/S on top of this. Not sure what area you are from Big Daz, but we have started
giving later starts on SPCL C & on M & T , giving a day off to anyone who wants it on special C & absorbing the prep & del to fill work hrs,
as prunella says " every little helps". :Very Happy

Well Steviea

We have 15 Duties, 8ft, 7 Pt plus the 1 in the locker.

I have to say i don't really give a toss what me Dom, the DSM or the IWT say we aren't flexing except for Monday and Tues.

We do have 4 vacancies at the moment, and we are also a van short as the last DSM took it away as part of savings so now packets and parcels only get done if someone volunteers to do them on overtime,
and even then i would say 50-60 a day miss. When i met our DSM about 5 weeks ago now the one who has temp moved he promised he would give our office 2 temp bodies until we had a revision and would see what happened then.
He also said he would source us a van.Now we have this new temp DSM and he wants cuts so he can go take a running jump. Have put in a stage one disagreement, informed the area Rep who is going to have words with him and will just have to wait and see where it goes from here ! OW Happy Days.

Well Geezer,
your DOM must be lapsing some indoor hours, so IWT may actually benefit you & prove to
your new DSM , you are efficent indoor, then as long as the outdoor is not set at 3.5hrs, ours went 3 years
ago, it should give your DOM a good argument to at least recruite a Del only person.

Scope for further absorption is limited as it will be only when sick leave levels are high such as at the moment.

Currently have 2 vacanies, absorbing two dels every day, 2 bods on light duties but will be back on normal duties in a few weeks. 1 person been off since Jan and has had a op and not yet ready to return to work. Another is off with ankle injury but will be back once that settles hopefully for wc 19 July.

At the moment its day off working on overtime for any uncovered work after the two round absorption, at the moment up to 4 OPG's in on their day off doing O/T.

The DOM is looking to absorb housing growth, but no formal written/detailed proposlas as yet.

As i have said before, my Dom is dead in the water with the IWT he just can't make head nor tail of it.I'm back on my duty at the moment so havn't time to help him.
The point i was trying to make is that we have 15 duties, 8 of which are F/T , 7 of which are P/T. Now funny enough all our floaters and spares are 30 P/T duties so do not IPS.
Also we have 1 F/T on long term sick, 4 Vacancies all of which are F/T duties and no van for packets/parcels.
As Daz said about his office and cover its the same in mine, If anyone won't work thier day off or go over when its heavy we fail, Packets very rarely clear except Mondays and most days
( even after lapseing on mon and tues ) we have people that do thier duty and then another one or half of one on overtime, which is just not fair or right on them. Now and again if they need the dosh fair enough,
But it has gone on for so long now they want to stop, but as our manager is one of the good ones they feel guilty, or that thier letting him down in some way if they don't do it.
You say you don't have a 3.5 hour Del spec why the hell not, we have not agreed to a longrer delivery spec so ours is still at 3.5 for a walk and if you knew where my office is,
and the hills the guys and girls had to climb you would say that 3.5 was to long.IWT can say what ever it wants but at the end of the day we need the resorcing sorted out, then i will
worry about RMs figures and IWT. :wave

Unfortunately, we lost 3.5hr spans years ago to maintain current contracts & avoid split shifts.

Listening to some of you guys now, maybe things aren't so bad after all, good luck with it

Well you know i said i put in a stage 1 because we were told that we could have 2 new bods for the office, and that our DSM has moved temp and the new Temp DSM said no and he wants us to lapse another 80 hours a week.
Well Area Rep phoned me this morning to say we are now getting the 2 bods and that we will not have to find 80 hours of lapse. So Back On track. ( He smiles , bows and takes his leave )

In all honesty Steviea

I personally think that if we do a fair revision in my Office it will say that we need to put hours in.Now i already know this will not happen but it gives us a good starting point to argue from.
The DSM has already told me that we won't get hours put it if we have managed to cope, but that he would not look to take hours out if the revision said not to.
We are lucky in my area, because you cant walk for 5 mins without going up hill and i mean hill 1 in 4 is quite common, So we get a slower walking speed.
The only problem i see our some of my work mates who are full time and still come back early, one of them 2 hours early. Now how am i meant to fight his corner if he won't listen and play the game,
so even if Geo says no hours out because of a few fools we could all lose out but we'll just have to wait and see.

DRB & Daz

With you on that one, but what the f**k can we do about it.
I have told him and so has everyone else but to no avail. He got called in a little while back by the manager and was told that he was going to get given more work.
He comes stright up to me and says " They can't give me more work can they " :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh
When i told him RM want him to work all paid hours he gets one on, Go figure. Then i find out when he was in with the manager he was grassing eveyone else up.
f***ing unreal or what. Some people are so up thier own arses they just can't see the light.
