I believe they are agreed as S.I meetings use IWT to determine indoor staffing levels

ok fun and games this morning re prep etc
large mailing today coop letters nearly every door in certain areas we deliver locally
asked what time we are getting to prep d2ds ; answer it,ll be ok we are not busy. i reply what about all coop stuff ?
answer ; i know i know . and that was it.
i then took it upon myself to count the mail lettrs flts ,pkts total 1,138 mails really going down .
didn,t count in d2ds 1/6th 96 items x2 =192 also about 100 items from my tray to buddy frame and about 10-15 missorts
all in 1,440. instructed line mangr and dom i had been given no time to prep d2ds and gave them my count.
a while later dom came back quoting figures i should have achieved and said i had plenty of time to prep
i was informed total prep rate was 22.5 items per min over whole prep span and this was agreed at meeting in stirling
between rm and cwu (can anyone confirm this) and i should be hitting about 1,500 items over 60 mins
bear in mind this also covers pt duty i box in as well .
anyway no lift out as troops left without me they start early and throw in 2 trays before start time :no no
no way to keep up . no other transport out started duty at 11.15 am finished 3.15 no break.
not happy .need to know prep rate before i go off on one tmrrw

Well if they are, i don't think they have been sent out to the Dom's yet, Not in my area anyway.
I was on the IWT with my Dom today and he nearly had a heart attack when he saw it, in fact he said he had turned it off and was waiting for me to come and work on it with him.
When i said to him we needed the agreeed settings, Prep rate, ect he had no idea what they were.
So we went through his email ( Bloody hundreds of the things ) and nothing was on there.
At this point he started to ring around other offices and you guessed it none of them had a clue either.

At which point i thought .............

Geezer, if your DOM is using IWT (v6), the rates are visible in the basic tab at the
bottom of the spreadsheet, you will find one for you traffic inputs, one for hours
used etc. All the tabs have info you and the DOM can look at to check its accuracy.

OURS IS IPS LTRS - 21 IPM

FLATS IPS - 16 IPM

PKTS - IPS 12 IPM

Thanks for the info, i will check it out.
We are not using IWT yet my Manager nearly fainted when he looked at it,
He called me in to help but i made my excuses and left. ( I'm in no hurry to help him try and prove we can lapse )
I did watch him trying to fill in all the data, you know duties, Number of calls ect.
Anyway the poor bloke spent about two hours doing it clicked on save and it all the fields in it went blank.
At this point he hit the desk and turned the comp off :Very Happy

To be fair he is a good Dom which i know is a rarity in RM, and he never tries to bully or harass anyone so i did feel quite sorry for him but i still had a good laugh.

Yes, rare indeed, have all the parameters been inputted as well, i.e distance from loading bay to ips, dbf, cycle shed etc.
for it to be accurate these need to be right otherwise he will end up "shafting himself" , he needs to check things like number of
missorts, items to callers etc, these all effect the IWT measures overall.

My manager said to me when he saw it all " Do you realise they want me to fill all this out and send it off with the Mail Centre figures by 8 oClock .For god's sake it's going to take me all day to do it, they've got no chance"

Now to put it in perspective we are a single Dom office, the PHG does no comp work and we don't start work till 7oClock.

You Gotta Laugh

Same here, singleton unit, no DOM SPRT, but in fairness once the base data is input if the DOM saves the file as a save as file , i.e wk 16
all needs inputing will be traffic & hours (a 5 minute job) - simples

Well he tried again on sat, i was out on round but when i came back it still wouldn't save apparently.
Also we have no figures in ours we have done the drop downs on the first page and got our office up but none of the boxes are filled out.
So i presume when you fill out all the empty boxes and save it, it will go off onto the Intranet and gather the date.Is that what happened for you Steviea.

Hi Geezer,
not that bad really, all data checked & hours replicate DMS, ran wk13 'S INC d2d, had lapsed 20 of 90 hr of AWD
for week, still showed 3 hrs to much & lapsed 60hr of prep out of 270, showed 10hrs short on prep - overall 101 BSI.
If your unit has a few vacancies, it is easier to lapse indoor & then flex up when traffic picks up again. Will make you & your
DOM'S life easier with his new DSM, problem is if you have either a) no vacancies or b) alot of F/T employees then it is not that
easy to remove (flexdown) the indoor hours, what make up has your office got?

Exactly the problem my D.O has, too many OPG's assigned to IPS. Why because the D.O is planned mainly around FT urban delivery jobs with a fixed delivery span and then you have to find enough indoor work to get to FT hours that the majority of staff are contracted to. IPS at my D.O is lasting for a shorter amount of time than ever before.
