Precisely mother - you see you are already questioning, blind faith and acceptance changes nothing.motherhubbard wrote:?dvbuk55 wrote: Reactionary steps change things

Re: Are we now fighting the CWU as well as RM?
Five D2D's this weeks that would have been £61.
Add my now defunct shift allowance and thats £71.
Instead I now get just £20.07p.
Loss of earnings £51 per week or £204 per month. Even more when theres 6 d2ds.
Even with the 'payrise' my take home is only £280...I dont think £315 take home is an excessive wage do you?
Anyone else still seething with rabid anger?

How the CWU managed to get this through is beyond me...
When they come knocking on your door asking for IA to combat privatisation what are you gonna say?

Re: Are we now fighting the CWU as well as RM?
Well we could start by asking why you've already got 5 D2D items ahead os schedule?
If you were the rep you would have an answer to this.
Have you had a delivery methods revision? Can you demonstrate you have solutions to weight on delivery?
You don't understand how the CWU got this through. You are seething with anger.
Well for a lot of people the Delivery Supplement represents a pay rise. If you withdraw your head from the bubble that is RMC you might realise that the situation of everyone getting 3 D2D every week wasn't widespread across the country. While the situation was loaded unfairly in your favour you were quite happy. The idea that there were winners and losers didn't occur to you and probably didn't bother you.
Now we are all on the same hourly rate that is unfair because you are used to being on a higher hourly rate and would be quite happy for that inequality to continue.
And as for you DVB - the only question I am asking is how can being a reactionary (an opponent of progress) be something to be proud of?

Different skills and different shifts (and different areas) attract allowances.
However the basic job does not and we are on the same hourly rate. That is the point I was making.
(The only allowances I have are the ones I have to make for some people on here

Please do not feel that you have to make any allowances for me mh.motherhubbard wrote: (The only allowances I have are the ones I have to make for some people on here)
Can i then ask you a question?
Do you really believe that areas that have a higher take up of D2D will have correspondingly smaller deliveries than areas that hardly gets any?

Re: Are we now fighting the CWU as well as RM?
I wasn't referring to you (re allowances). I had stokes oneleg and the either or game in mind.
The answer to your question is "how long is a piece of string?"
The delivery length will be affected by p/t to f/t ratio, the delivery methods chosen, the attendance pattern chosen. the terrain, possible automation of D2D and the call percentage - (and probably more but that's all I can think of at the mo) so there is no simple answer to your question.
However if we were to take two identical DO's (identical terrain, identical traffic, identical shifts etc etc) and one has 4 D2D and one gets none then as the one with 4D2D needs more prep time the delivery should be 11(?) minutes shorter/day per 500 delivery points.
But that is a completely unrealistic scenario and the reality as outlined above will be a lot more complicated.
Which is why every unit needs a rep backed up by his (sic) members to ensure we don't get shafted.

How are we all on the same rate of pay when the supplement is paid pro rata on contracted hours and not hours worked?

Re: Are we now fighting the CWU as well as RM?
It isn't the Delivery Supplement that is at fault here but the system that requires p/t staff to work 40hrs /week while not allowing them to be made up to f/t ,even on a temporary basis. That needs to be addressed. The contract should reflect the workload.
Should a f/t colleague reieve a higher delivery supplement if they work their day off?

Why not....they are after all delivering more or for longer and it IS a delivery allowance.motherhubbard wrote: Should a f/t colleague reieve a higher delivery supplement if they work their day off?

Re: Are we now fighting the CWU as well as RM?
I think you know that we both agree on the failings of this agreement and the shortcomings of our leadership and the manner in which the seek to manipulate events.dvbuk55 wrote:So lets analyse that. What is put in is the finance to run a huge organisation which is SUPPOSED to be dedicated to enable the membership to enjoy better working conditions with adequate reward and to be able to retire with dignity with a pension that reflects the final salary they have been paid. Now what exactly has been achieved from that really quite small list of objectives for the money invested in the CWU?BELIAL wrote:Must say, I'm a bit baffled by this throw your hands in the air and walk out of the union attitude. What do people think they will achieve ? the union will go on; it will be weaker ,and the next agreement will be worse.
I suppose next time they will feel even more justified in bleating how hard done by they are and how the union have let them down, all the time conveniently forgetting that they have done jack s**t to help themselves . You only get out what you put in so why be surprised when you get nothing?
The time to be doing something about the next agreement is now. If you think this deal was crap then do something positive to make sure the next deal is better.
Don't make the mistake of thinking it won't get worse ,because as far as RM are concerned they have only just started attacking your terms and they will be back for more than you think possible. So if anyone can tell me just how, sitting crying into your plastic coffee cup is going to be an effective method of fighting pay;pension ,and job cuts ,I'm all ears.
Does anyone believe that the shop floor membership is going to be able to influence the decisions made on their behalf in the future or will it be again left to those gallant few whose vested interest lies not with the membership but with the organisation itself. Take the decision to withdraw from supporting the labour party..................., which of course hasn't happened, now who decided what? The ballot on the pension? The forceful campaign on the pension deficit.................. yes I can see where staying in the union would influence decisions.
Where we differ is in respect of the conclusions drawn and what actions should be taken to improve matters.
True the subs go in , but that is just your ticket in , hardly much effort or commitment involved is there? Why buy a ticket and not go to the show?
If you don't go to branch meetings; call EGM's ;attend AGM's and pack them to push your agenda or win over others then what you get is what we've got and no amount of righteous indignation will alter it.
Simply paying your dues and hoping somebody else will do the graft and look after your best interests is obviously a flawed approach.
So for all the reasons you mention I would draw the opposite conclusion and urge people to participate more and have a greater say in how your union is run and how your working life is shaped.
I still have the same questions about your preferred course of action (leave the union)
What will it achieve ?
How will it improve our terms and conditions ?
(and before some plank says £3 a week ,that will not transform your life into one of luxurious bounty)
Bye

Mother only an idiot would call this agreement progress. You should look around you and ask "Is this the best it can be" and if the answer is NO then you should be questioning and changing your stance because to follow by faith alone is to follow blindly.motherhubbard wrote:And as for you DVB - the only question I am asking is how can being a reactionary (an opponent of progress) be something to be proud of?
