Re: Hemel new mail centre
Can anyone shed any light on how long it is likely to take before Hemel Hempstead centre is up and running? With the building already in place is it not just a matter of shipping in the machinery and saying off you go?

Re: Hemel new mail centre
It depends on whether it's purpose built, or an existing building. If it's purpose built, then you're right. If not, they'll have to make alterations to the building, and that can take months.

Thanks for the prompt response Andy. Check it out at http://www.m1stral.co.uk" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; and see what you think. I'm no expert but it looks to me like it won't need a great deal of modifying.

The following thought could of been muted elsewhere, but i'll go ahead any way................now we have had the budget,do you think its going to affect Royal Mails plans of mail center or delivery offices up and down the country,ie spending curbs ect or is the money tucked away specially for the modernisation plan.......

Re: Hemel new mail centre
RM will probably STILL go ahead with the changes....
They'll just make a few "adjustments" to their finances..... :)

And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

Re: Hemel new mail centre
Don't they have money set aside from the Government specifically for "modernisation"?
If so, the cutbacks won't affect the changes.

I posted this in another thread but I'll copy it here too.swoosta wrote:which is what ?Dizzyb1976 wrote:To all of those affected by the Hemel hempstead Closure . Avoid the Clear Choice Centre
The Clear Choice process is far from perfect but I certainly wouldn't recommend avoiding it.I wrote:It's the setup RM have implemented to aid the migration of staff to the new MCs... Sadly, in the experience we've had it's been anything but clear, and there's been no real choice for the vast majority of people involved. Sorry if that sounds a bit bleak hopefully, they'll improve things as they do it elsewhere.

Re: Hemel new mail centre
I spoke to a network driver yesterday, who reckons Hatfield Streamlione are due to move in to the Hemel site as well as the Hemel,Stevenage & Watford mail centers, anyone else heard this story? I dont really expect to hear anything from RM just yet as we are only 1 month in to the 6 month consultation period.
