Morning all bit late for saturday night but have been reading through some of the comments and your right in so many ways we have this guy at the moment and he is supposed to be a manager last weekend he was wandering about in a shirt and trousers the shirt i dont think had ever seen an iron and his trousers had not seen a washing machine in a while, now not wishing to be pickey but if you have managers walking about looking like they are on holiday or living in a bin then your staff are going to be the same.
The uniform well apart from being a joke the trousers fade and shrink and make you look like coco the clown there is so much bag around the top of your legs one of the girls we thought might fly off she looks like she should have wide load written on her shes only dinky but the trousers are so ill fitting how can you make trousers that are to small in the waist but have so much extra around the top of your legs and to short.
The shirts are all diffrent shades of blue it depends on when you had an issue,i had some shirts this time last year and they are a good shade of blue my mate next to me had some a couple of months later and they were a total diffrent type and shade of blue, now i dont know how you can have so many diffrent shades in blue shirts or quality from the same company, the polo shirts are the same they seem to go to a funny sort of orange/red or some have kept thier colour but they are all a diffrent quality.
The footwear the cat boots look good and seem to last better the magnams still fall apart the cat trainers wear through and donot support your foot as they should and seem to be causing a heel condition where the wearer seems to suffer very bad pains in the heel and instep when walking and have found it worse when they are of duty and walking around home without footwear, the doc martins once broken in seem to be a faviourite.
If you set the standard at rubbish then you will encourage staff to wear thier own gear because you get fed up with being uncomfortable and as your out on the street for so long now and will be out even longer in the future then you are going to find ways around it,if managers look rubbish in the way that they dress then your staff will learn by example but come on all iron your shirts or if you wash them just put them on a hanger you wont have to iron them as the shirt will drop any creases
and look better!
We all use to wear a good quality uniform and it looked good but as everyone has worked out Royal Mail now believe in cheap and narsty is good and they are quite happy for you to look like that and the new uniform does not look any better.

Looking round my office today . 40 odd posties . Doesn,t anyone have a sense of pride in the job anymore ? Some wear the uniform. But others look like they on holiday! Red polo, camouflage shorts or bermudas ! Trainers !
They walk down the street and the only reason the public see them as a postie is because they carrying a red bag !
Otherwise you would not know?
I am speaking as an ex army guy . Smart and tidy every day.
We are after all ROYAL mail.
But some off you need a full length mirror to see what you like before you go to work?
Suppose will get the usual daft cartoons on here now?
But look at yourselves ? Have some pride at least ? :arrrghhh
I'm afraid that the way the job's gone downhill, pride in anything remotely to do with Royal Mail has simply been jettisoned by most people unfortunate enough to need to work for the jokers.
An entirely human response, and one I can well understand.

I think the point is :
even if you have no pride in RM, at least you should have a bit of pride in yourself.
The societies of consumption and squandering of material resources are incompatible with the idea of economic growth and a clean planet.

If someones appearence and personal hygiene starts to go downhill it can be an early sign of depression....just a thought. :hmmmm

We'd be a lot better off if they really were. A couple of people at my place have had serious problems with Depression. But in each case, they've missed it, until they ended up on the sick.

If we were given the right tools for the job (uniform) then maybe we we wouldn't have to resort to wearing our own clothing.
We have some crackers in our office who wear the issue shorts with sparkly white socks and their big docs and knobbly knees
During the summer months i always put on a older pair of trainers.... still clean and presentable of course .
Two out of the three gaffers don't bother but their is the one idiot who always points out the health and safety guidelines.
I dont think their should be a problem with wearing trainers when you are walking about with temperatures of 23oc plus.
