Happened to read part of Leightons "book", was intrigued by the part where He said He got hold of some inflatable bananas, strung them up in a net below the ceiling, then at the appropriate time, pulled the cord and they fell on all below! Each person had to grab a banana (honestly, this was in print!) and pledge allegiance to it!!!!! And this is the idiot running RM. ATTENTION, MEN IN WHITE COATS, PLEASEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!

There was a bit in a interview when the bosses had to walk on the boardroom table {Walking the plank), this is very much early 90's American style management , the latest "ideas " from some insane yank academic. USDAW reps hated him because of this.axeman wrote:think he's sliped on one of his banana skins this time :lfo typical 'team building sh*t that these tw*ts come up with and the lemings that folow them are r.m's team of managers
Any other "Corporate" staples ? i.e. Paintballing, Outward bound courses , The Firewalk etc. A " Messiah " , board to the bone MCM put pressure on his ML4s here for a "Team Building" pub crawl , predictably the transport for the AGs, never arrived to go to Manchester Bier Keller . The only team building I'd want to do on a poisoned chalice section is through a medium or spiritualist .WHY HAS HE ALWAYS SOUNDED LIKE JOE MAPLIN FROM HI-DI-HI in those letters?

Actually I've done Paintballing as a Team Building exercise/drinking game in the forces. Would love to do it with RM as long as managers took part. They would be easy to spot they would hat the most hits on them and would also be wearing these uniforms:

I've just googled our " maverick- high maintenance according to New Labour " CEO and it gets better! , he's no different to all these stupid pointless celebrities that accidentally on purpose " forget" to wear any knickers to get in the papers .
He's in the Daily Flail along with the hanging council tenants and why Hitler was half right "articles", it's the one about " not our customers "quote from The Spectator " , apparently Joe Public only posts 4 items a year!. His latest hero is Henry V and his leadership & planning being a inspiration.Thatcher clones and Churchillian mgrs love taking centre stage turning things into a field of operations with combatants and the enemy .They love to imagine the smell of napalm or cordite filling the air , in reality it's the smell of b****** !
He's definitely one of the boys , he was sent as a boarder to a posh boarding school in Oxford & his driving force was his parents business failing, I think he's doing his best to make history repeat itself !. The Asda interview was a gem, during the manager'stheme party (BAR CODE BLITZ !?} , wartime songs were playing, there was this Cardboard bomb suspended from the roof & uniformed "NCOs" were barracking Asda managers . Then there was the ASDA board room table that was five foot off the ground to speed up meetings. At Asda he was twiglet thin and had George Michael style designer stubble with a Ask Allan badge on , so it seems that fat cat has given up his hobby of Long Distance running . The best hobby was MORRIS DANCING !, can you imagine L&C in thier white costumes with thier bells and cymbals,
Somebody will have to do a Photoshop picture with his obligatory halo of course :lfo

Most of the loopy stuff usually does come out of sales , the bit about the banana . I think it's supposed to mean the banana is the company you pledge allegiance to!?? , the firewalk is the negative replaced by a can-do positive attitude so you can achieve & make good decisions !!? , others include Horse whispering , CLOWN SKILLS, sheep dog trials , llama -walking , board breaking and walking on glass. Mars had executive & team devolopment courses on HMS Bristol , there's a simulated ship wreck to improve team building , communication and deploying resources. As to what this has got to do with running the post office any better or if anyone learns anything ; don't ask ! :lfoade@cambs wrote:Love to get him on the side of one ours

Interesting interview, never knew Allan Leighton went to church, mind you Hitler used to be religious in his day but that's a different topic..............
In his ASDA days, Allan DID used to get out and about to visit stores and workers, something very much lacking since he joined Royal Mail. It's either he's too scared of the reaction he would get or it's hard to fit in his hectic one day at Royal Mail.
