afternoon

Post by arty_morty »

Just a quick hello. I'm due to start as an opg soon so thought I'd a: find out what an opg is (done) and b: say hello (doing).

Joining the post office at what I'll call close to middle age is a whole new thing for me and I must admit to having a few butterflies.
I staged a Roger Moore impersonator festival in my local village. There were a lot of eyebrows raised, I can tell you.

Welcome.
I was certainly no spring chicken when I started with Royal Mail not many years ago and, although I'm regularly told it's not the job it once was, find it far better than my previous two employments.
The first month or so will be like being thrown in at the deep end but get through that and you should be okay.

I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

When I joined I was 39, had suffered from Asthma all my life and hadn't ridden a bike for over 20 years - i was :pray i would last a week :chuckle

I survived over 18 years before I took early retirement!

The job is not what it was then, but the comradeship and the (sometimes) grateful 'customers' together with walking/riding/driving around on a lovely summers day (or a crisp winter morning) compensate for the pressure

Hope you settle in quickly, and thoroughly enjoy the job :Very Happy
