Ok if mail is light, are we going to see a reduction of managers as another cost cutting measure. Will meal relief go next, and weekly wages.
Some part timers come in early.
This is the problem - we're all singing from different song sheets. Playing into RM hands. Useless union, no guidance. Too busy now arranging a strike for BT to bother about our state of affairs.
Thats unfair as Telecoms are looked after by their own set of IR reps and us Postal workers by Dave W and his team from officers to local reps.
What telecoms are up to has no bearing on our IR issues and how they are handled.

For gods sake your adults , off course your enitiled to a meal relief , it is law. However what no one can enforce is that everyone has one.
If members are still chasing time and cutting corners including not having meal reliefs then you can blame the CWU. The blame lies at the door of those who still believe that Royal Mail lives in the old days of letting everyone make time on their jobs.
The fact is if you are making time then you will continue to absorb and you will continue to face revisons as managment will believe that they can make your office more productive. They wont pay any attention to the fact you drive your own cars , start early or work your meal relief.
In terms of guildance we have more guidelines about delivery then any agreement ever. In fact too many there is too much detail to take in. You can hardly accuse the CWU or not agreeing guidelines relating to the agreement.
There are further guidelines due out as well on standards etc.
Daz is right the CWU have their own BT section who are orgainsing the BT Ballot. Cheap shots about the unions stance in regards to BT members demanding 5% misses the point that the deal which the postal side is worth a lot more that the upfront payments at the shorter working week is worth 2.5 % , the lump sums are worth over 5% and the supplement is worth money as well.
Equally the fact is that BT made an operating profit of over 1 billion and that the union had agreed to end the final salery schem and agree new attendance patterns last year to ensure BT made a profit.
The postal side never agreed the ending of the pension scheme it was imposed.

Well....that's certainly true dingo but what has been flagged up to HQ on several occasions from my branch amongst others is something far more insidious and most definitely unlawful.dingo wrote:For gods sake your adults , off course your enitiled to a meal relief , it is law. That is the practice of management actively encouraging members not to have meal relief by allowing them to leave the office early.
Answer from HQ....fudge,fudge,fumble,fumble....feck all.
The law is clear on this dingo...An employer cannot force an employee to take meal relief but MUST NOT encourage by any working practices non-compliance with statutory meal relief.
But please continue to blame the majority of the members for practices carried out by the minority in MY area .......if maybe not in your own back yard.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

HQ can't stop people using their cars, coming in early yadda yadda,if w*****s want to forfeit their meal relief what is it to do with HQ,the branch or me and you?fishtank wrote:Well....that's certainly true dingo but what has been flagged up to HQ on several occasions from my branch amongst others is something far more insidious and most definitely unlawful.dingo wrote:For gods sake your adults , off course your enitiled to a meal relief , it is law. It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: So what has exactly changed in your office?
I think the heading was "So what has changed in your office........."
And this last post from postman sums it all up - FA........................Royal Mail will push through the D2Ds, people will still use their cars, many will work through a meal relief believing they are as the dingo says "chasing time", the revisions will be enacted, weak offices with no rep will be shafted, even large offices with a decent rep will get shafted BECAUSE the union membership is not there and the part time element will not take industrial action on a local level.
So apart from losing money and doing more work .....................................nothing has changed including England losing the game against Germany.
How strange that the game of football closely follows our own working lives - we are "on the field" so to speak performing the actual task of "playing/working" and there are the pundits chattering away like demented monkeys playing the game from the sofa with experiences gained 20 years before against mediocre opposition and telling everyone how the "game" should be played..................................... so, so familiar
