Watchdog Demands Answers Over Post Office Move

Customers may not have been consulted properly

A customer watchdog is demanding answers about the consultation and imminent move of Ealing's central post office.

Concerns have been raised that despite a six week consultation period - the relocation of the high street branch to WH Smith was in reality a done deal.

The MP for Ealing Central and Acton, Angie Bray, is unhappy about the move and has raised the issue in the House of Commons, with Post Office Ltd (POL) and has today received a letter from watchdog Consumer Focus.

Consumer Focus share Angie’s concern that the consultation might not have been conducted properly.

The watchdog has asked POL to clarify the nature and extent of any work that has already taken place on the WH Smith site and want confirmation that in the event of a move, WH Smith will have sufficient counter facilities and staffing.

In response to the letter Angie said:

“I am delighted by Consumer Focus’ response. It is reassuring to know that Consumer Focus recognises the potential problems involved in the change of premises. It will be very interesting to hear what response they will get from the POL.''
