RM partial privatisation announced
The government has today announced that they plan to part privatise RM. Although no specifics have been confirmed. I'm in delivery and having not worked long for the company I don't fully understand all its workings... Can anyone explain what could be the implications of this?

Re: Vince Cable plans new attempt to privatise Royal Mail
This was said today by Clegg talking to civil servants on the new goverment proposals...
'The administration will "seek to ensure an injection of private capital into Royal Mail, including opportunities for employee ownership". Post Office Ltd will remain in public ownership, according to the document'
I guess going by this, they are looking at the Lib Dems version for RM, Part Privatisation, 49%

Everything but the Post Office will be sold.....if they can find a buyer...it's a fire sale and in the words of the Manics everything must go.Silly Sarah wrote:The government has today announced that they plan to part privatise RM. Never mind though you may get some fake shares in the new company.
Anybody who now thinks we will get that mystical 3.5% in 2012.....dream on.
That is going to look like a hell of a big pay rise for only one year.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: RM partial privatisation announced
It wont be a new company will it?!!?...Royal Mail is already a government-owned company, all 65,000 shares owned by Vince Cable (BIS Secretary). And history says that your pay will actually go UP under privatisation. Look at the privatised dockyards and the railways!!!fishtank wrote:Silly Sarah wrote: Never mind though you may get some fake shares in the new company.

The BIG question is will "they" still honour the "Business transformation 2010" deal in full or will this be renaged upon as well.Bouncing Souls wrote:This was said today by Clegg talking to civil servants on the new goverment proposals...

It should be built into the sale that whoever takes over or whatever happens to Royal Mail the 2010 deal will still have to be honoured...Surely this has to be a MUST and for the sakes of modernisation, the only way to go forward is take the workforce with you a concept the twat Penis Welsh at BA hasn't quite grasped yet!!

2010 and Beyond will be honoured if a partial sale goes ahead.

Actually the real term level of national debt that the UK is running right now is only 1/5 of the size of the debt that the UK carried from 1943 - mid 1960's , perhaps if you change the way you report the figures it makes it easier to convince working people that they should accept pay and pension cuts while the fat cats keep raking it in at an ever increasing rate.barbario wrote:Due to the world recession, our country is desparate for money, don't be surprised to see us sold for a rock bottom price.
Agree with you about the great public asset giveaway , it will be just like all the others . Wait for the kickbacks and backhanders in the form of consultancy fees and N E Directorships for our very obliging political rent boys
