Look so long as all paid work hours are being worked, there is no problem. We dont all deliver the same amount of mail but get paid the same, and work the same amount of hours.
Due to the type of delivery being done it can be argued that some do more work, but a 500 stop urban doing all paid hours and a 300 stop rural spaced out thus pushing up the time needed to do it yet both will be on a 40 hour week and paid the same. We are paid by the hour not by how much mail we deliver.
Work is work and it dosent just comprise of sorting peices of paper into a frame, do the same hours get the same pay.
The only issue is the supplement is too low and not enough of the 6.9% was paid in year 1, alter that and nobody looses existing money.

So by your spelling and grammatical mistakes I assume you are in the bottom 10% of the IQ test?

Is the union now advocating that all allowances,ie early shift, driving etc are combined into basic pay or a supplement too? Why wasn't this part of the 2010 agreement?
sirtophat wrote:no one gets paid for D2D any more, if you havr 600 calls you will get more time to prep them so how will you have more work than someone with 200 calls??
Exactly. It is a myth that someone with 200 calls does less work than someone with 600 calls. Why should you get paid more than your fellow man who puts the same time in the job as you? I admit they are fiddly and hard to post, but we all have our crosses to bear. Do those with loads of flats with 300 stairs on their duties get paid x amount more than guys who only have 100 steps? Come on, be realistic.
errrmmmm - what ? realistically you are making a rather absurd comparison there . comparing something which has never and will never happen with something which , until last week did happen hardly strengthens your argument . my point is that until such time as the prep of "unaddressed mail " is built into duties then people with more calls will do more work , that is a fact , it takes more time to prep 600 than it does to prep 200 .
i sit somewhere in the middle of these calls and can obviously prep my " unaddressed mail " quicker than someone with 600 calls , but not as quickly as someone with 200 , blindingly obvious , but felt it needed pointing out .
on the flipside , when we were paid for D2D, i don't recall seeing many threads bemoaning the fact that people with fewer calls were paid less could it be that it was a fairer system ?
Do your job right and cut off or claim over if you can't do it in time. When will people realize that the relationship with the employer has changed? The fact is that the duties have never been completely fair. Someone gets more flats or packets. Someone has more hills and steps. Now some people have more D2D. Solution. Do your hours and work properly. Go into battle with them and cut off if your duty is genuinely over its time. I know it isn't easy and RM have got it all their own way by bringing in an hourly pay system without bringing in a clocking in and out system, but there is no other way round it.
A clocking in and out system would be detrimental to the service and they know it.
I tell you I am no fan of RM and our current working conditions. It is disgusting that a worker has to somehow predict the amount of work they can do and then get harassed and intimidated for trying to leave work which would take them over. The ball should be in their court not ours. Clocking in and out is the answer and any work left should be there problem, they wanted all this.
All we have at the moment is for people to work properly and cut off or claim, so thats what I say we should do and then all is fair between us workers at least.

Or are you and everybody else letting the d2d issue cloud your commonsense, when you know full well there are so many factors as to why every walk is different ?
If Joe Bloggs does 600 calls in densely-packed urban housing estates, and Postie Pete does a rural devivery with 200 calls and long distances between the villages, are you going to now argue that Postie Pete should get 1/3rd of the wage that Joe Bloggs does ??????
Ok here's 1 for you 2 Town Dutys 1 has 606 Doors the other 402 = 204 door difference both P/T dutys both Posties receiving £10.30, Cheers Billy, Dave and RM...
BTW anyone who was seriously surprised that RM no longer pay us for D2D I would have to ask if you were in RM in 2007 when in June they proposed this:

Lets Reverse it today I had approx 800 letters and packets to deliver today over 3.5 hours the bloke next to me had 650 also over 3.5 hours (not including D2Ds in either duty) would it be fair for him to be paid less than me because he was delivering less.
I would ask that people who currently support the piece rate payment for D2Ds would they accept it if RM introduced it for normal mail. In other words work the same hours Mon - Sat and take the usual 3.5 hours, but as there is less mail on Tuesday you would be paid less even if it took the same amount of time.
