i do not understand for the life of me the complaint of lapsing. I know I have been out of the business for the best part of a year but while I was a rep we had the line which was agreed under Pay and Mod phase 3 2007 that all paid hours are utalised . Therefore, if you had spare time at the end of your duty you MAY be asked to work to your time....

So whats the problem ? Even when that happened colleagues still came in early, didnt take their breaks , rushed out in their cars, and households were finished by tuesday.

WORK TO YOUR TIME... THEN YOU CANNOT BE ASKED TO DO MORE.... AND DONT GO ON A GO SLOW ON PURPOSE....

Lapsing/Absorbsion is for fools!!

Come in on time, work in a reasonable manner, take your break, dont use a car, just do your job as it is set out to be, job done.

keep repeating this but the only reason anyone lapses is BECAUSE THEY CAN!! if everyone did the job to royal mail spec they would not have time to lapse, otherwise your deliveries are to small.
lapsing isnt to do with delevery size, its to make up the time you save doing inside work with being 'less' mail. although if som ppl are on 4/5 hr walks they usualy dont bother as they need to leave office for 9am to finish on their time hence why the part timers dont do it just full timers. although at our office more part timers do it than full timers. weve been collapsing for a year and a half. at first we did 4 works for one year, yeah even through xmas. now its usualy 2 - 2/15 walks. i think we had 45 walks in our office and they collapsed 4 walks at first. dont know how we did it :s

Done it since summer 2008 except for the Christmas rush periods.
We get told to take the lapsing out and leave our own rounds in if we can't complete.
In our office lapsing rules over everything else. All Hail Lapsing!!!!
