JURORS have retired to consider their verdict in the case of a man accused of murdering Saints steward Paula Poolton.

As the trial of Royal Mail worker Roger Kearney reaches its sixth week, the jury at Winchester Crown Court is expected to start their deliberations.

The judge, Mr Justice Silber has spent the last two days summing up the case, which sees 57-year-old Kearney charged with the murder of his secret lover, Paula.

Married Paula, 40, of Course Park Crescent, Titchfield, was found stabbed to death in the boot of her car, 11 days after she went missing in October 2008.

Police discovered her black Peugeot 206 parked just yards away from Swanwick Railway station, in Duncan Road, Park Gate.

The prosecution claim twicedivorced Kearney killed Paula, before heading to work, on October 17, 2008, because she had threatened to expose their three-month affair to his partner of eight-years.

Dad-of-two Kearney, of Painswick Close, Sarisbury Green, denies her murder.
