CDVs have not been put on hold. There is a timetable for offices with delivery methods and the equpment is available. However some areas would rather do a walk sequecing revison on its own without delivery methods and that is likely what has happened in this case.

I am dealing with a number of delivery method revisons and they are going ahead.

Ask your area rep for the delivery method roll out and WSM roll out and delivery revision roll out.

I might be a bit thick here but could you explain exactly why an area would wish to do a walk sequenced revision without the tools to deal with longer delivery spans and increased outdoor workload?
And why HQ would sanction it?

Well we are holding on for the tools for the job before the revision is done. I am in agreement with you, HCTs, Vans, no private cars on delivery and the revision can take place; without those aspects of the agreement in situ what would be the point of a revision? You couldn't do park and loop without the transport and without the park and loops identified you do not know how many other forms of delivery will be necessary HCTs, electric HCTs, cycles and foot.

This strategy reminds me of a previous agreement where we were supposed to get bag drops and tools for the job and what happened, Leighton spouting on - lets not wait lets press ahead - and we are still waiting for the bag drops years after the Way Forward agreement.

Fishtank some managers do not believe that you can combine a delivery methods , geo route and walk sequencing revison all in one. It is a massive change .

Remember any office above 40 walks will have to be phased in and not in one big bang revisons which causes problems with resigns etc.

I know that from the discussions I have had with senior management a lot want to avoid if they can a big bundled revison as it effects our members in a bigger way but it is also harder to plan and takes a lot longer.

However the long and short of it , is that CDVs have not been put on hold. Tessa Fayers and her management team have control and they release the CDVs only when they believe they have been succussfully planned. This has not always been the case hence a number of CDV problem offices.

No office should be having any revison until they have had the local revision workshop and understand the plan for the office. Remember these are not totally different revisons , they are part of a package . Thats why if you do a geo route revison or delivery methods revison the delivery span idicator will not allow you to go to a longer span unless that span can work when you have walk sequencing. So for example if you wanted to go to a 4 hour span but when you have walk sequencing you will not recieve your second batch until 10 in the morning and therefore will not leave the office till after 11 then you will not be allowed to have a 4 hour span as you with then have to put hours back into the office under walk sequencing.

Do you have any idea how much time there is likely to be between the first and second batches of mail arriving at DO's? When do we move to 3.00pm last letter?

It will depend on a number of factors including whether your office is going to have CSS machines or whether you are going to recieve the work from another delivery unit or mail centre. It will depend then on whether you are in the pecking order for sequencing , most will have 4 or 5 offices being served by a CSS and then it will depend in which batch your walk is as a batch will be appoxmately 12 walks.

So there are a number of factors which will decide when your walk and your office will recieve its second 40% of work

I understand that some managers would be nervous about a bundled revision dingo but to put the sequenced revision before the delivery methods revision will leave our members exposed to delivery spans that are not compatible with current delivery methods.
It is pure cart before horse management and not something the CWU should be endorsing although after the shambles of the D2D into workload implementation i am far from surprised.

Fishtank the plan was always that some offices would have sequencing in year 1 and others in years 2 and 3.

Delivery methods is also a 3 year plan with offices spread out over those 3 years.

Remember the whole revison process be that goe route , delivery methods and walk sequencing all must be compatible. So without delivery methods you can not have a longer delivery span unless you have a clear and agreed plan on how you are going to deal with weight on delivery.

Equally if you are in year 2 or 3 of walk sequecing but in year 1 of delivery methods then they is no way that you could agree a 4.5 hour delivery span if in year 2 when you have a walk sequencing revison that means because of the arrival of your batches that you can only do a 3.5 or 4 hour span as the delivery span indicator tool would not allow it as that would mean you would have to then take hours out in year 1 but would then have to go back in year 2.

All revisons are part of a 3 year plan rather than just different revisons.

 Dingo. Dingo-- our office revised the walks nearly three ago, on the basis of these machines coming along, (should have got the machine in within months of the revision! No machines, but no reverting back to the way it was! It could now be theoretically another 3 years before our office gets these machines which of course will probably be out dated by then. if memory serves me well, from what we were told three years ago, each machine has to be ordered, then each one takes several months to make,it might have been better if the machines rather than the vans had been put it situ first--without all the necessary 'tool's being to hand to allow this revision to take place, it won't. not in the way you think! Stress again
that in a high percentage of offices the walks are already way over 4 hours. Even you must see that once again we have been sold a puppy
