Right then, spillie, I'll swap with you ...

You come and work in an MC that will probably close in 3 years time, and benefit to the tune of £8 x 52wks x 3
Personally, I'd rather have a guaranteed job for as long as I want it than a measly £1248, less tax
You won't be swapping with him Carnie but you could well be joining him or someone in a delivery office, because when the cackie eventually hits the fan you'll be offered a job delivering so instead of EVR you'll get £20.60 - you lucky swine you, all that dosh and an HCT .....................life doesn't get any better :chuckle :chuckle :chuckle

In the week that the new (non-pensionable) supplement to basic pay comes into effect my D2D would have been £12.50, instead I will be paid £20.60. :Very Happy Who the hell allowed me to have been losing out so much during the last few years ? I love my pay rise. :Very Happy
Seriously though, things were going to change anyway, and there have to be some winners and some losers.
Bit smug are you? You wouldn't be if the boot was on the other foot would you? :Sick :funneh :left: :coolr
Not so much smug as a bit sarcastic, but the point I was making is that for years I've accepted without moaning the fact that colleagues doing the same work as me ( Door To Doors prepared and delivered in work time don't forget ) and working the same hours as me were on a significantly higher hourly rate.

Everyone gets 51.5 pence per hour in the supplement instead of the D2D monies.
yes indeed , what could be fairer than walks with 600+ calls and walks with 200-300 calls getting the same amount , or indeed firms and indoor duties who don't deliver any D2D'S also benefitting from our increased workload , an excellent and satisfactory solution for all
If I was that dissatisfied with the new arrangements for my '600+ calls' I would seriously consider applying for the next rural duty that becomes vacant. :Very Happy

No your wrong, nobody should have won or lost we should have all been equal, what was the big loss..£2 to full timers on this supplement
No. FACT Royal Mail were going to stop Door To Doors being paid per item - and that being the case there had to be winners and losers. :Very Happy

no one gets paid for D2D any more, if you havr 600 calls you will get more time to prep them so how will you have more work than someone with 200 calls?? :arrrghhh

Exactly. It is a myth that someone with 200 calls does less work than someone with 600 calls. Why should you get paid more than your fellow man who puts the same time in the job as you? I admit they are fiddly and hard to post, but we all have our crosses to bear. Do those with loads of flats with 300 stairs on their duties get paid x amount more than guys who only have 100 steps? Come on, be realistic.

Gee, I'm so glad that Lounge Lizard benefits from the supplement. Seems to be the story of my life, I do the work, the bludger gets the reward. Go figure!

Agree its not called d2d any more but a delivery supplement. What i don't agree is your saying you will have more time than someone that has 200 calls. Theoretically speaking the person with 600 calls might not have any d2d to prep up while the other one that has 200 calls might have 6, meaning not just more time indoors but also out, he/she will also be cold calling through out the week.

All this adds time which has not been built into any of the duties at present. Its deeply concerning that no manager gives a damn about the d2d as long as you can deliver it because they want you too. When the revisions were done in every office d2d was counted into the time frame...but now the cap has been lifted we just don't have the time now that is required!

our DOM said thru the summer we should be able to do D2D in normal work load as mail is lighter...................we took him to task and he reluctantly said o/t will be paid if we do go over, but he does not expect it to, DO THE JOB PROPERLY and it will

In full agreement with you comrades, 8 hours work is 8 hours work and in RML there is many different types of OPG work .

Regardless of how many DTD there is each D.O based OPG on a 40 hour week will do the same overall hours of work so why should pay be any different. However the way in which pay has been equalised a bit on the dodgy side. It should have been done with NEW money rather than using exisiting funds. That way we might not have had loosers.

errrmmmm - what ? realistically you are making a rather absurd comparison there . comparing something which has never and will never happen with something which , until last week did happen hardly strengthens your argument . my point is that until such time as the prep of "unaddressed mail " is built into duties then people with more calls will do more work , that is a fact , it takes more time to prep 600 than it does to prep 200 .
i sit somewhere in the middle of these calls and can obviously prep my " unaddressed mail " quicker than someone with 600 calls , but not as quickly as someone with 200 , blindingly obvious , but felt it needed pointing out .
on the flipside , when we were paid for D2D, i don't recall seeing many threads bemoaning the fact that people with fewer calls were paid less :hmmmm could it be that it was a fairer system ?
