Re: MAILCENTRE CULLS BEGIN!
Glasgow and Edinburgh look pretty safe. The only MC in Scotland likely to close is Inverness, due to it's size and 2nd class is already done at Aberdeen. Both Glasgow and Edinburgh are very big MCs in terms of traffic and both are getting the new ILSMs. Carlisle is also a small MC and could go into Glasgow.

Not a clue, there seemed to be a deathly silence when I asked last week.....dodger162 wrote: Does anyone know anything about the Ipswich/Norwich/Cambridge/Peterborough cluster?
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.
You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

Re: MAILCENTRE CULLS BEGIN!
Losing second class mail to another MC seems to be a signal that your MC is for the chop. It's a scenario that's been repeated round the country with MC's that have either closed or are on the verge of closure.

Re: MAILCENTRE CULLS BEGIN!
London was mentioned as part of the latest mail centre reviews. Has anyone been told anything or heard any rumours?
We've had posts from all the other affected areas

Re: MAILCENTRE CULLS BEGIN!
In London we had WTLs and a letter last week, but all they have told us is that a review of London Mail Centres
is taking place, and that the first 'consultation' meeting with the CWU and CMA has already been held.
We have not been told what their plans are, and there are still lots of rumours flying around.
Before the IA last year the CWU had told us that RM were planning to close one of the three London MCs.
One of the current rumours is that RM intend to close two London MCs - possibly East London and Nine Elms.
Another rumour is that all 3 MCs will be closed and moved into a new MC - rumours have it that RM are interested
in acquiring the former Guinness brewery site on the Park Royal industrial estate in North-West London.
But I stress that these are just rumours, and noone, RM or CWU, are telling us anything.

It beggars belief how they can even think of closing 1 down let alone the other bits you have posted.baldrick wrote:In London we had WTLs and a letter last week, but all they have told us is that a review of London Mail Centres

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Would Inverness not be safe due to the loction ? How could mail be driven to Wick Thurso Portree etc in resonable time for delivery.dodger162 wrote:Glasgow and Edinburgh look pretty safe. Now you know why they have spent the last 5 years pushing deliveries later and later!harrycook wrote:Would Inverness not be safe due to the loction ? Re: MAILCENTRE CULLS BEGIN!
nah..
Its nearly a 3 hour drive to the furthest location that Inverness supply. Sp delivery would not make it on time. cant see it happening , not for a long time anyway.
