abosolute joke,no control sheet,no plan of who does what,no input or advice from anyone in charge,just a get on with it and sort something out with your leave reserve.this deal was bad enough getting through the national ballot but to introduce it without any revisions is a complete piss take,same old management mentality....nothing has changed at all.

Clueless, absolutely bloody clueless!

On Saturday our woefully inadequate management team were unaware that the new arrangements were coming in on Monday. They insisted that it would be another fortnight before they were introduced. We had to tell them otherwise.

This morning we got 4 of the bastard things.

“Oh well, I expect you’ll do them all today or tomorrow won’t you?” Er, no! We are meant to be doing 1/6th a day. “Oh, are you?”
“Leave ‘em in the frame if you’re not going to that delivery point with mail” Er, no! They are to be treated as live mail and cleared everyday. “ Oh, are they?”

No procedure has been put in place to ensure that they are done on a daily basis. Management seem unaware that they need to check daily that the day’s quota has been done. It’s a sure-fire certainty that if anyone goes sick and the duty is then either covered by switching someone at the last minute or getting it covered on overtime, then the D2D’s won’t get done.
No thought has been given to the affect it will have upon our workload. No allowance has been made for additional prep time and delivery time.

Basically we have been left to sort it out for ourselves and to absorb it into our workload. Well that ain’t going to happen. I went over today and will probably end up doing that again tomorrow and for the rest of the week. If they were looking to reduce their costs then they should have given some thought as to effect it would have on those with the longer duties.

As an example of ‘how not to manage’ you probably couldn’t improve upon it.

We were under the impression that there was a halt on absorbtion for two weeks to help the new D2D roll out, but our DOM wasn't having any of it, even when we pointed out to her the letter on the union board by Bob Gibson. Glad to say most of the sensible posties brought back all the absorbtion work

Unfortunately there were still plenty taking out 70% or so of their D2D's today. People will never learn.

Sory to be the bearer of bad news but you have misread Bobs letter, there is no agreement what so ever for no absorption. CWU proposed it RML rejected it, sad but TRUE!!!

CWU wanted a joint statemnet worked one up sent to RML who rejected it, read the letter again and you will see that is the case.

You may have a point there does seem to be a little confusion for some.

For the last three weeks our lino's have been banging on about how the d2d's must be classed as normal mail(on the 7th) and a record kept of exactly where you have delivered them on a daily basis.This is so your rest day cover knows which 6th he has to take out,or if you go sick halfway through the week the postie taking over knows whats left to do.
All perfectly reasonable,now I come in today and theres no sign of the d2d sheets for any of us (they were supposed to have printed one out for each walk split into 6ths).We're then told last minute to "just do them how you used to for the time being".

I went in on time today and did it all by the book, threw in my DTD in the company's time, did a half row lapse with some DTD prepped into it and it cost RM one and a quarter hour extended delivery. My DOM said when I told him I would need to book overtime "That seems excessive", and I thought "Yes it is - but it is being paid for by the idiots who went in early and had their DTD and two boxes of sequenced mail prepped before I arrived this morning".

My indoor workload has now increased because I have up to 130 drops more than most of the surrounding walks although the walk profiles are almost identical and my outdoor workload cannot be adjusted day to day because we have been given a set pattern for delivery of DTD which means concentrated weight in set areas each day.

So as long as I am comfortable with the physical demands placed on me, I will treat it as an earning opportunity but if they won't pay - I won't play.

Our revision to accommodate sequencing, DTD into workload, shared vans etc is months away so anyone with a larger walk has been s**t on big time and the company should be going all out to correct imbalances in workload and not argue about a delivery expense that their ineptitude has incurred.

No disrespect Daz but there was a full paragraph between those two statements and it was confusing at first read.
So confusing in fact that my DOM is now convinced there is a two week grace period and i just don't have the heart to inform him otherwise.

Well the system in our office is d2d's are to be delivered tues to friday. The bottom row on the frame done tues, next one up weds etc. Cover staff must do whatever part is set for the day they cover, eg they cover a round weds, they take out d2ds for the second row on the frame. So basically we have to do 1/4 a day. No absorbtion for the moment but they always saved that for weds/thurs/fri so could still happen. Whatever roads have d2d's for that day must be completed, if you have to cut off you are not allowed to cut off that bit. No extra time for prep of d2ds no revision of walks in sight.

Only had 2 d2ds myself this week, but many had 4.

And those 2 statements make it blindingly obvious RML did not agree to the CWU request, what is so confusing?
