the first point you made was about prep=8mins .. but this is based on 500
the point i was making is that on a daily basis prep& del is 8+13.4=21.4 mins per day
if you have 750 calls it would be 12+20.1=32.1mins per day.. hope i got the maths right :wave :wave

Your maths are spot on Glenno so the idea that we should just take a 30min+ hit on our duty as long as we don't have to lapse is selling ourselves short. :hmmmm
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

No what i dont care about prep rates and delivery rates as every days is different! If you leave your ofice 4 hours before end of shift they cant touch you! If you are on IPS longer than their times for the indoor bit they cant touch you as that impacts you outdoor bits! If you have time to do lapsing after your duty then do it! If not book against the lapsed duty (not your own!) or cut off! If you want to be a flyer and break the law, RM delivery policy or your health and safety knowing RM will sack you when it goes wrong f*ck off i dont care! I get paid for the hours i work no more or less. This is not complicated folks if they dont think you are telling the truth invite them out with you by letter and get a responce by letter to cover you later if needed! If you are a bit slow on sorting and throwing in again request help from management to improve your standards to comply with RM (A PAPER TRAIL!) being slow is not a sackable offence! If you are asking for help they CANT or WONT give you, you look good and they bad for ET if needed. D2Ds are live mail and should be treated as such, customers have paid for it to be delivered if you are given a hard time that week write to those companies saying you want to deliver the service that they pay for but RM wish to cut corners and as they the customer help pay your wages you have major concerns about service to them, request not to be named but to direct ALL letters to your DOM with maybe a copy to yourself for your records.
CONDEMNATION.

drb wrote:The best way,(and this would contribute to the weight issue in which once your revisions come through, plan with minimum weight). If you are on a shorter Saturday then tell your rep it has to be 1/5th.Also split your frame dards,(not across),into 5 sections.ownw

I cannot reiterate this enough. If the business is so obsessed with lapsing/absorptions,(and any DOM or Line manager would also agree they are a pain),fine. They are only there to make you work your time AND save money on,(a probably overspent office). However only if capacity exists.

No decent rep is going to advocate to any manager that members finish before their time. As far back as I can remember the union has always wanted the membership to work their time.
Therefore to measure your capacity, leave the absorbed in the frame. When you finish your own duty, come back to the office.Bingo!Whatever time is left, that is your capacity.

If you take the lapsed/absorbed with you,(in your car),then you are already adding to,(in my opinion), a flawed Geo-routed walk.If your walks have not been geo-routed yet and you are lapsing 6 walks plus, that means to any "bean counter" that that is what walks can come out of your office.

In collections,(if you have them in your office),the route is controlled by a scanner in which every point is set a specific time,(box or firm). You cannot go earlier then the time stated then the time on the route, only later. You will find that collections work their time.A 18:30 box is exactly that...a 18:30 box. No-one got ill or died because they worked to their time.
We were told on Saturday that you can't split streets , something to do with neighbours chatting over their fence about the latest offers pouring through their doors! :left:

I would say no you cant as its a reasonble request, i would say that if i was you i will do it if i have any time left at the end of the shift as per 2007 pay & mod as is only correct that we work "ALL" paid hours. Only you know if you will have enough time after taking out D2Ds. For myself i think i will have to extend almost every day on my own walk as D2Ds are now live mail. Half hour a day X five equals about 20 pounds a week!
What about where it states:

However in order to facilitate a smooth transition it is agreed that there will be no absorption in any Delivery Units for the next 2 weeks in order to provide more time for the transfer to be formally completed, therefore talks should continue between local parties to complete the transfer in line with the national agreement and have robust arrangements and processes in place by the 21st June. Thereafter any agreed interim arrangements will continue until a formal revision takes place and the workload is embedded into the office duty structure.

That was never agreed by RML

The 4th June DTD update said the following

The following words were sent to Royal Mail with the hope of issuing them as a joint statement.

It is jointly recognised that delivery units have been left with a stretching timetable to agree the movement of D2D into workload, and in some case have not been left with sufficient time to organise formal meetings to competently deal with the issue. Unfortunately the date was heavily influenced by the payroll changeover which is now too advanced to defer. This means that the 7th June remains in place. Thereafter any agreed interim arrangements will continue until a formal revision takes place and the workload is embedded into the offHowever in order to facilitate a smooth transition it is agreed that there will be no absorption in any Delivery Units for the next 2 weeks in order to provide more time for the transfer to be formally completed, therefore talks should continue between local parties to complete the transfer in line with the national agreement and have robust arrangements and processes in place by the 21st June. office duty structure.

For the sake of clarity there is no reference to absorption in the Door 2 Door section of the national agreement nor is there any reference to offices not in the upper decile being required to absorb D2D. The movement into workload should be done on the basis of a common sense approach based upon facts. This does not mean that opportunities to absorb do not exist but any such opportunities/proposals should be clearly demonstrated and supported by reliable data/statistics.

Royal Mail have shied away from issuing a joint statement and issued a statement to their managers which whilst being slightly helpful does not sufficiently deal with the tight deadline and their managers approach to this changeover which in many instances appears to be from a start point of absorption.

As old dingo said some offices will get 4 lots of D2D on the 7th and we certainly did - so the question is how many offices actually did get 4 lots this week and I wonder what the take up on 5 lots will be come July?

Anyone think we've been sold a pup?

We were under the impression that there was a halt on absorbtion for two weeks to help the new D2D roll out, but our DOM wasn't having any of it, even when we pointed out to her the letter on the union board by Bob Gibson. Glad to say most of the sensible posties brought back all the absorbtion work :nana

Unfortunately there were still plenty taking out 70% or so of their D2D's today. People will never learn. :mad
