According to Billy, and Alan before him, and Alan before him and Tom before him, it's because we can influence decisions and prevent Labour becoming a right-wing party just like a Tory Party Mark 2. This is why many people choose to stay members. Their success had been astounding! They've played a blinder! Not one school or hospital has closed unde a Labour Government. Not one serviceman has been sent to fight in any illegal or immoral war, not one dodgy totalitarian regime has been propped up, no Labour politician has sent any of their children to a private school because as we all know, they've worked wonders improving the state system. No student leaves university with any debt at all.
