It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Re: D2D Update 4th June
I would say no you cant as its a reasonble request, i would say that if i was you i will do it if i have any time left at the end of the shift as per 2007 pay & mod as is only correct that we work "ALL" paid hours. Only you know if you will have enough time after taking out D2Ds. For myself i think i will have to extend almost every day on my own walk as D2Ds are now live mail. Half hour a day X five equals about 20 pounds a week!postghost wrote:So just to get this straight.....My manager tells me to lapse part of another duty on Monday.....I can tell him to go forth and multiply........yes??

Re: D2D Update 4th June
The agreement is also quite clear that as long as the D2D are cleared by the end of the week - that's fine.dblad wrote:Crazy, they can say what they want, i'm prepping my way and delivering them my way too.
There has to be a clear system of control in case you go sick but apart from that a walk holder can do what they like within reason.
The walk can be divided into sixths so the floater takes a different section each week and doesn't get shafted with a crap section all the time but if the floater and walk holder want to designate a section they do on a regular basis that is acceptable as well. That would be down to local negotiation.
You can't claim the time to prep and deliver if you decide to do all your D2D on Monday but if you want to do that I can't see anything in this agreement to stop you.
If however it leaves you spare time Tues -Fri don't moan if you are out lapsing.
And who is going to control if you prep your D2D first or last? An envelope could be prepped first or last it wouldn't matter. A leaflet may have to be prepped first because it is so flimsy. Maybe you won't want to prep it at all but count out the appropriate number and work from the back of your bundle. Prep it how and when you feel comfortable prepping it - just don't do it in your own time any more.
Never let the hand you hold, hold you down.

Re: D2D Update 4th June
The best way,(and this would contribute to the weight issue in which once your revisions come through, plan with minimum weight). If you are on a shorter Saturday then tell your rep it has to be 1/5th.Also split your frame downwards,(not across),into 5 sections.
I cannot reiterate this enough. If the business is so obsessed with lapsing/absorptions,(and any DOM or Line manager would also agree they are a pain),fine. They are only there to make you work your time AND save money on,(a probably overspent office). However only if capacity exists.
No decent rep is going to advocate to any manager that members finish before their time. As far back as I can remember the union has always wanted the membership to work their time.
Therefore to measure your capacity, leave the absorbed in the frame. When you finish your own duty, come back to the office.Bingo!Whatever time is left, that is your capacity.
If you take the lapsed/absorbed with you,(in your car),then you are already adding to,(in my opinion), a flawed Geo-routed walk.If your walks have not been geo-routed yet and you are lapsing 6 walks plus, that means to any "bean counter" that that is what walks can come out of your office.
In collections,(if you have them in your office),the route is controlled by a scanner in which every point is set a specific time,(box or firm). You cannot go earlier then the time stated then the time on the route, only later. You will find that collections work their time.A 18:30 box is exactly that...a 18:30 box. No-one got ill or died because they worked to their time.

Re: D2D Update 4th June
There lies our biggest problem. We all know that members will prep everything in on either :told my manager i will be doing 1/6th per day on my lapsing, reply was how do we manage that?not my problem . He wanted to put them all in on tuesday
A Monday
A Tuesday
On a Saturday(after their walk)
Dump them
I am finding an increasing amount of muscular/skeletal injuries over the last year.It is all rehabs/Atos at the moment. If we follow the above members actions this will increase. The 5th/6th element of D2D MUST be adhered to.Once again, split your walk in a DOWNWARD sections on your frame,NOT ACROSS,(in 5ths or 6ths). Use the tools for the job,the cars on delivery issue will not go away until the WSM revision.OK,untill then take 1 bag only in the car.Get the other bags dropped to you.Make those weights as comfortable as possible,remember...THERE IS NO MINIMUM WEIGHT.

Re: D2D Update 4th June
Nah it's just worded badly again...it's giving you 11 per min for the 2 contracts that's why it's 22 for one because the first 2 have to be prepped one at a time.
8 minutes for the first 2 contracts is i'm afraid the total figure.
In summary this means that a walk with 500 DP’s and a current 80% call rate should be credited daily with the following; 1 contract – 9.4mins, 2 contracts 13.4min, 3 contracts – 15.4min, 4 contracts – 16.4min, 5 contracts – 17.4min and 6 contracts 19.4mins.
Factoring in the above will mean that absorption opportunities on normal mail will have to be reviewed and management forecasts adjusted to allow for D2D in workload.
If I have misunderstood this I apoligise if not its there in black&white... also it is based on the average 500
so if like me you have 750 calls its half that figure again??????????????
