i can see some major shafting by some of my collegues with ref. to 1/6th D2D on their rest day, unless it is standard LtoR,top to bottom in sequence across all frames in the office, also prepping after all the mail is in is a stupid idea, but,it will be time consuming, less time on delivery or more time with a lino on your back whilst prepping?

Am I right to think he cant do this??
He cant without CWU agreement as the national one says 16.6% or over 6 days, more importantly any change he makes has to comply with the following paragraph. (especially the underlined part).
Whilst the planned workload will be spread across the 6 days, delivery employees will have the ability to manage the delivery of the items themselves on the proviso that all items are delivered within the week and the delivery specification is not affected.

In the other side of the coin If he adjusts the call rate to reflect a 25% D2D call rate on top of whatever call rate you are already then there is nothing to stop him/her. It would stop lapsing completely because even with an 80% call rate they would have up that to a 85% for Mon - Thu to reflect the extra D2D visits (ie 25% of the 20%).

IMHO if you doing the job right and you have to travel out to the lapse and back to the DO to do the lapse then you wont have time to complete an 85%call rate. :Very Happy

Well Im off until Tuesday, as is the DOM (he was off today too), so this morning I left a note stuck to the frame saying that 1/6th of the D2Ds need doing on Monday. Then I divided my walk into 6 equal parts and wrote out a delivery schedule to be followed each week:

Monday - A to B
Tuesday - B to C

Etc, etc.

Ive done all I can do, so Ill see when I get back whats happened.

Theres been no meeting about it, no plan put in place, absolutely sod all done apart from me telling people the crack.

The excitements killing me

Does your floater know what he is expected to do have you spoke to him/her about it could cause less problems if you get together and sort it out

I love when people on here just say "cut off" like it's the easiest thing to do. Are all your offices still working on a daily amount of hours per contract? In our office, for the last 6 years we've been shoved (with supposed union agreement) onto carrying hours over. This means you more than likely don't go over you hours until Saturday. Then when you phone up management (we are a sub-office- only see the manager when she wants to nail someone for mis-conduct) the answer is you "must take out all 1st, 2nd and packets and leave EVERYTHING else." That includes any downstream etc. Knowing full well, that all that cr*p will still be sat there waiting for you on Monday morning. When you say you will still go into OT and therefore cut off they claim you didn't give enough notice and will be in breach of contract if you cut off. Or my other favourite is when I ask them what the higher-uppers would think about all downstream being left undelivered, and if TNT etc. would be pleased to know about how their mail was treated the answer is always "extraordinary circumstances" like it's some kind of special phrase that absconds them of any responsability. IT makes me so mad that there are other offices around the country that are still on the daily hours allowance, whilst we got locally screwed by the union.

Easy solution. Get everyone on your delivery to opt-out of D2D and then pocket the £20.30. Don't get caught though! :nana

Well Ive just been informed that the dom held a briefing this morning and told everyone that in our office we will be doing 25% per day, mon to thurs, and none on a fri or sat.

No union agreement on it cos the rep is off sick, hes just doing it off his own back, and its totally against the national agreement.

Ive tried to get hold of area rep but no joy.

Any help would be much appreciated. :evil/mad :evil/mad

Now that is a good question since your D2D payments are a week behind. :hmmmm

why cant the union get all dom in all offices to give all employees a form asking if you are prepared to work over your time mon - sat , then you should not have to go in and tell them your cutting off it shouldnt be down to you , and then they no where they stand.

That would be great, but it still leaves the problem of the fact that you can't tell if you are going to go into OT until the end of your duty on Friday or even Saturday morning. Then telling managers that you are cutting off and they claim you haven't given them enough warning to arrange cover.

Same for me back Tuesday, told the floater to do the first 1/6th and have marked the frame with stickers so he can't go wrong, been told by Lino to do them Monday to Friday, I'm going to do them on Saturday as we now get the monies paid as a wage, I work for a company that works 6 days a week (well our DO does :Very Happy ) So I'm going to work the same, no rushing on a Saturday, if I have to cut-off then I will!

Working my day off on thursday. Got a monster delivery that Ive never done before.

I cant see myself being able to prep the walk, do IPS, prep the D2D and lapsing in the time allowed. Ill definitely be out late, perhaps by an hour or more.

I told my manager on saturday morning that if im expected to lapse ill be going home as soon as im told.

He said ill be in breach of contract if I do as ive already agreed to do the duty and everything that goes with it.

Is this true?

What annoys me is there STILL is no modernisation to make the service better. Just pay cuts and an increase in workload.
