I'd be happy to explain the difference, but the "powers that be" now block every post of mine for reasons unknown or explained.
Maybe they could grow a pair and either say "you're out" or explain what the problem is, rather than taking the easy way out?

Just keep your comments civilised, and don't go out of your way to talk down to, or wind people up, and you posts will be allowed.Tman wrote:I'd be happy to explain the difference, but the "powers that be" now block every post of mine for reasons unknown or explained.

The problem is, that although you seem to have a talent for provoking people. But always cry victimisation, whenever anyone reports you. You often make important contributions to RMC. THAT'S why your posts are being pre-moderated, rather than simply banning you. Quite frankly, it'd be a big loss to RMC if you did leave.
I'm truly sorry that this hadn't been explaned to you at the time. I was under the impression that it was, when you were first put onto pre-moderation.
Only those posts which include attempts to wind people up, or otherwise breach the rules are blocked. All others are allowed through, as soon as one of the Admin/Mods team logs on, and checks them. If a lot of your posts are being blocked, then perhaps you should think more carefully about the content and tone of them.

Re: Glasgow Mail Centre
All the PMs you and I sent to each other, the warnings you have received, the brief bans (cant remember if you did get any) didn't give you a clue there was a problemTman wrote:Maybe they could grow a pair and either say "you're out" or explain what the problem is, rather than taking the easy way out?
We have, frankly on many occasions, asked you to tone down your posts and you continually ask us to treat other members in the same way as you, and we try to do just that. In that spirit we have asked you to report posts you thought or believed breached the rules, as others members do, but to my recollection you have never reported anyone, where as in every time I have addressed an issue with your posts, they have been reported by someone. So please dont claim we have never explained what the problem was.
On the other side of the coin I have in fact on at least 3 occasions dismissed reports raised on your posts because I thought there was no case to answer.
You appeared to ignore our requests and therefore after a discussion, yes started by me, we placed you onto pre-moderation. You are not the only one and we will pre-moderate members when we believe there is no other solution to a perceived long term or ongoing problem.
In the end if you don't like the way we moderate and administrate RMC you do have the final option which many suggest about RM, but I for one hope you don't as sometimes your posts are quite informative and give a different perspective on topics of interest. It is therefore a pity that you provide the moderators with the most work on here, than the rest of the members put together.
As an aside after the last round of PMs and posts I will not respond to any PM from you on this subject. After you accusations of bias I prefer to debate this in public posts.

Re: Glasgow Mail Centre
It's not a case of trying to shame them. It's simply a case of people being responsible for the majority of posts reported to us, but who also make important contributions to RMC. It's a lot better than banning them, which would mean that we'd loose their input.clashcityrocker wrote:TrueBlueTerrier wrote:You are not the only one

As I'm sure you realise, we can't go naming people in this situation, any more than we would start giving out details of who's been reported for what. That information is confidential. But if I remember correctly, there are only 3 people on pre-moderation, which is a tiny minority, considering how many members we have. And once things calm down, they will be taken off pre-moderation, and will be able to post just like you and everyone else. It was never intended as a punnishment. Just as a means of allowing them to continue posting, without giving us endless hours of responding to reports.
But please don't let that stop anyone from reporting posts when neccessary. We're here to help, and will do everything we can to keep everyone safe on here.

Re: Glasgow Mail Centre
How ironic. The one post where I was intentionally blunt (to get some response from a mod) gets posted on RMC verbatim, yet the thread where I was explaining how another poster took offence (probably intentionally) when he'd clearly misunderstood a post, gets pulled?
Incidentally TBT, you're correct in that I have never whined about another poster; shame everyone can't see the inherent fairness in the "you give it, you take it" principle, eh?

What's the difference between a LSM and an iLSM?

I think you're missing the point Tman
Tman, the whole point of having Mods/Admin and in particular the "Report" button to alert us to problems, is to try to avoid slanging matches between posters. If everyone reacted to offensive posts (or those percieved as offensive) by "giving as good as they get", then we'd never get any proper discussions. And many people would be frightened off RMC.
We don't ask much, you know. If someone offends you, or posts something which breaks the rules in any other way. Then PLEASE click the "Report" button, rather than rising to the bait. There's nothing shameful about trying to keep things civilised.
Sadly, your insistance on taking matters into your own hands, is exactly why so many of your posts are reported. Because once you rise to the bait, you start resorting to personal attacks. And once any such attack is reported. If it DOES include a personal attack, then we have no option, but to do something about it.

Surely SOMEONE must know! I haven't been able to find out. Although as an educated guess, I'd suggest that it stands for "intelligent" LSM. Which would mean that it'd make use of something called a Decision Engine, to make it more versitile and efficient (in theory).
