Our mail arrives at 5 in the morning but we are starting at half 6 and the union rep wont come over as he has 'bigger' fish to fry in other offices! We are told that the D2D's will come in one envelope!? Believe it when i see it!

I love my job
At present we are lapsing 3 walks a day at our place. The dom has told the rep he has been told to double this to 6 walks for "the lower mail volumes in summer!" six walks to be prepped for lapsing, numerous 24 hour walks also, 9 o'clock specials, missort run............... OH AND NOW DOOR TO DOORS, ALL FROM EXISTING IPS STAFF. GET REAL HAYES AND CO !!!!

I don't think your manager will get it past his boss and i don't think the rep will either.
It's a six day service and as far as i know that part of it at least is not open to local agreement.
However if it is an interim solution maybe he will get away with it.

I think that is in the guidelines.
Everyone will complete a walk control sheet confirming D2D delivery.

I have 900 delivery points for D2D that is 150 per day to be prepped. Did this today with 3 lots of d2d and it took 25 mins and that was into an empty frame.
Told the dom that I don't have 25 mins spare per day which I don't.
He said he would get someone on Monday to throw them all in.
The frame is a mixture of firms and residential and to have to work around someone for 2 1/2 hours would be a nightmare as well as having to pull out mail in the sections where d2d wasn't going that day.

I despair :arrrghhh :arrrghhh :arrrghhh

We had our brief for the start day next week for D2D

My problem is this I prep my walk and within that prep is a SA walk that is done by postpersons on SA that also prep another walk that goes with it, I have never done the D2D for this part of the walk and the sa holders get paid for prepping the other part of the walk and to deliver.

I asked my dom this morning if I have to prep the d2d and he said yes, now all the other walks that are lapsed and we have to deliver (3) when these are prepped the prep does not include D2D only letters/flats and packets. so when we take out the 30 odd calls we also have to prep our own d2d
My question is this can I be made to prep the sa walk for d2d or can i refuse as I don't have that much time? :whistle

Any advice would be appreciated

You should damn well make sure you prep them on a Saturday, as you`re supposed to do. The more indoor work you do, will mean less outside work you can do.
Stand tall, and let them worry how the duty is to be delivered.

If you do them all by friday and its your day off saturday then the cover person gets away with out doing any but they still get the 20.60 a week (or pro rata depending on contract). Divide your calls by 6 and do that much every day. If you cant manage on the saturday then pass it onto your manager and make it his/her problem. Dont make it easy for them by doing more than you have too.

And that is very good advice. Think about it! On a "light" day you may finish on time and on a heavy day you leave in.

Well i woudn't get to excited.
D2D will only add 3-4% on your call-rate so on a quiet tuesday,if they still exist,i would still expect them to come looking for lapsing.
