Re: D2D on 7th June - what preparations in your office?
The interim position is LOCAL!!!!
The rep and the manager agree how to resource against DTD, untill a revision takes place to put DTD into workload.
Unless you have 4 sets or can't manage your current workload including DTD then its carry on as you were.

Cheers in advance
I know no more or less than anyone else, 7th is the date being aimed for which was in a LTB. As yet RML have not said if that date is going ahead, guess they will say next week.
Preparation for supplement is going on though as that has flagged up two individuals at my D.O as being paid NDA for three years longer they should have had.

I think your wrong there btw - just my opinion , but im pretty sure that the INTERIM part means from when we go onto the 20.60 to when we get WS walks in place .........
in·ter·im (ntr-m)
n.
An interval of time between one event, process, or period and another.
adj.
Belonging to, serving during, or taking place during an intermediate interval of time; temporary
2010 says and I quote,
In the interim to ensure that D2D workload is covered effectively in line with this agreement, and in advance of units realigning duties through full revision activity to take account of D2D, resourcing of hours associated with the workload linked to D2D will be dealt with through locally agreed interim arrangements and reviewed through the weekly resourcing meetings in all delivery units. To aid the transition, offices that have not deployed delivery methods revisions will have to provide genuine and demonstrable solutions to any weight or volumetric issues.

It doesn't sound like it reading dingo's post Daz.Big Daz wrote:The interim position is LOCAL!!!
It sounds much more like a structure that may be adapted locally rather than 1200 separate structures.Royal Mail have now agreed in principle of how an office puts door to door into workload , there is an interim postion
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

We have been told SFA. I made a point of asking at a recent WTL about anything happening with regards to the Agreement and was only told things way way off into the future. Nothing within the next couple of weeks.

Re: D2D on 7th June - what preparations in your office?
Well the agreement starts to full apart at the first hurdle. Another one of these, so it seems, brilliant ideas in theory but not at all well thought out. Everyone in my office has been asked to divide their walk up into sectors so as to provide the the rest-day cover with a sector to do during our rest days. The dialogue with the manager in my office went something like this:
Q: How many sectors?
A: Five.... . No, Six.... No five...er.
Q: Does the rest-day cover do the same part every time?
A: Yes.... . No. That might be an idea.
Q: Who decides which part?
A: You can....err. No he can. Er...decide between you. May be you can do more on a Tuesday because that's normally a lighter day.
Q: Do you think the rest-day cover is going to be happy if I give him more to do on a Tuesday than I do each of the other days?
A: Gormless look. Walk off looking like an idiot.
So basically there is not a plan and my manager wants me to do his job for him because he has not the time and quite obviously, not a clue but there is a panic now to get it working.
Of course there are a number of other problems to get around. Will overtime persons have do the D2D on the walks they intend to do. After all their £22.60 only covers them for D2D on their own walks, as they see it, and when they find out they have to do them will they continue to do overtime? Should the number of people doing overtime suddenly reduce how will the vacant duties be covered? If they are to be covered by causal worker will they do the D2D? Confused as casuals are quite often about where to go and what to do will this not then result in more cut-offs and abandoned trolleys? When D2D are not attended to on any day that the duty holder is absent, whom will be responsible to get them completed? Will the rest-day cover, overtime person, reserve, casual be called upon to do them in their own time recognising that they have been paid for them. I think not. Muggins will have do them because they are the duty holder.
Well, there is going to be a lot of arguments and bad feeling before this is worked out because as with the 2007 deal there is not enough detail in the agreement to make this work efficiently from the very beginning and management are over eager to begin coining it in. Managers don't know how to work out all the obvious problems I have thrown up and all those that are ready to show themselves. Good luck everyone!

Dingo, The question to be answered is when a walk is lapsed or done on overtime will we have to do the d2d's as well??? If this is the case, then massive problems will arise, this is just a shambles, no thought gone into this process what so ever, after speaking to bob gibson i think hes hoping RM will but back the date of the 7th June, the only problem is, he said that the wages have been sorted by RM for the £20.60 to go in from the 7th and RM said they don't think this can now be changed

A walk done on OT would have to have it's 16% done.
A walk on lapsing would have to have it's 16% done.
Is it that hard to divide a walk 6 ways and allocate 1/6 to it per day?

It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.

The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

No its very easy, OPG's IMHO should in RML time work out the six sections and the DOM should type this up print it off and place in walk log. OPG should also consider due to DTD growth doing 1/6th of each pouch a day as a way of dealing with weight and volumetric issues.

I'd like to know how you can throw dtd s into the double slotted frames which are already filled with magazines and flats etc!!
Sometimes theres not enough room for mail let alone dtd s.
