Like I say Mr Clifton, your personal insurance (etc) I would check with your insurer if I were you, BEFORE you have an accident. Mind you if you want to save your office money and be Bum fluffed by your DOM then...........well, you must be a manager.......or union rep. Besides which:

Do RM pay you to use your car? NO
Do RM pay the insurance on your car?NO
Do RM pay the petrol used in your car? NO
Do RM pay for tires for your car? NO
Do RM pay for your car to be serviced? NO
DO RM pay your road tax? NO
DO RM Repair any damage to your car if its involved in an accident NO
DO RM repay any personal losses from theft - to the driver NO

Your own car and its contents are not covered by the RM Bond that's why they insist on you having business insurance.

Smelly - you need to calm down.
The boy made a mistake, something we have all done in our lives, and he deserves a bit of compassion.
If you can't find it in your heart to find a little forgiveness then f**k off you miserable old crow.
Never let the hand you hold, hold you down.

I was told many times i wasn't under arrest and i was free to walk away from their investigators, the police themselves were never involved. I co-operated fully because i knew what i had done was wrong quite frankly i felt awful about it, i actually on the day i was caught was going to go to my manager and tell him my problem but obviously it was to late.

To me simply not speaking to their investigators was an admission of guilt and it would be basically leaving it to the police and i didn't want any further trouble or stress on my family. I'm not perfect but i'm an honest person and i've never been in trouble with the police in my life over anything so i knew i'd been caught and i complied fully with them.

In the interviews with their investigators i admitted fully to my wrongdoings and allowed them access to anything they needed to see. I complied fully as well because i actually did want the mail to get delivered.

As for how they found me out, in the interviews they told me it rooted from customer complaints, i reckon coming from when i couldn't complete my round a particular estate i just couldn't get finished and that happened quite a lot, in the first few weeks i made sure i got everything done but with the time constraints i had later on with my girlfriend starting working in the evening i had no choice but to finish at 2PM and this went on for around 2-3 weeks. No-one told me what to do with mail i couldn't complete and when i got back to the DO at like 3:30pm no-one was there anyway, so i put anything left in the boot and did my best on my day off or on light days to get it done, stupid i know. :(

From what i've gathered and read, community service and a fine seems the punishment i will get, i know i deserve it, i will accept any punishment as i do know what i was doing was quite simply wrong.

My main reason for posting however is that i am completely terrified by the thought of a prison sentence, its all i can think about everyday at the moment.

And like I said, those who use cars in my office were given letters to give to their own insurers.....

The rest of your post about petrol, tyres & road tax etc is completely irrelevant.

Please stop implying I am using my car. I have neither stated I do or do not!

 I really think for your own sake, you must get in touch with either The I.B or Dom, and find out if they are reporting this to the police or not. This should put your mind at rest with regard to thoughts of prison etc, but that seems highly unlikely.

I would mate but i got interviewed by a cluster manager who did my conduct hearing and even he didn't know what/when i would hear anything from them he just handled that part of the issue and as for the criminal part he didn't know, just wished me luck. As far as i know when the investigation is completed which it was on the day i got caught because they sealed all the interview tapes in case it went to court, i assume its all sent to the CPS who decides whether to prosecute, not got a clue who i can contact really. :(

Ashy you are miles away from the CPS.
First of all you would have to be interviewed by the police and they would decide whether to charge you with any criminal offence.
Then THEY would send a report to the CPS before the CPS would decide whether to progress with a prosecution.
If you haven't been charged by now it is UNLIKELY that IBs recommendation to the police contains criminal charges.
But i STRESS this is only my OPINION.
good times, bad times you know I've had my share

Its the American blame culture again. I'm only faintly surprised he's not suing for wrongful dismissal. And yes, I have my own peccadillos and am well aware of them.

As for insurance Patrick Clifton, I am on the understanding that most people's insurance policy covers 'social, domestic and pleasure'. I am given to understand that should you have an accident whilst using your car on duty (and carrying the Queen's mail) you will not be insured as you are using your vehicle for work which is a different type of policy altogether. This is known as commercial insurance and I think you'll find its about 10 times dearer. Besides which if IB catch you, you're in the do do. It saves your DOM and your DO money because that way they do not have the responsibility of conveying you out to your duty.

If you are daft enough to be using your own car Mr Clifton, stop it. Stop it now before you get into trouble.

And the rest of you bleeding hearts, do me a favour and get a grip! Counselling indeed! What for, being a drip? Not having a back bone? :no no

The dodgy part of this story is ashy started shabbing in April and the IB were involved so quick. :hmmmm
He mentions a couple of weeks and the IB were on the case, they're not that good.
I Wrote-During Covid-Which is still relevant now
It's good to get these types of threads, the ridiculous my manager said bollox, so we can reassure ourselves that while the world is falling apart, Royal Mail managers are still being the low-life C***S they have always been.
My BFF Clash
The daily grind of having to argue your case with an intellectual pigmy of a line manager is physically and emotionally draining.

Who would know,he told no one.
And customers won't have a clue either if it's only delayed a day.

Was he not saving it up and going out on his rest days to deliver it. That would stand out like a sore thumb ?
