WTLL SESSIONS

Post by blue1873 »

GMC had it's night shift "weekly" wtll session cancelled this week (2nd time this year) :so there .we had at least eight sessions cancelled last year, these sessions were brought in under "THE WAY FORWARD" :chuckle .usual reason given is "the office is too busy " but are'nt mail volumes down i hear you cry how can you be too busy" :no no .could it possibly be that GMC workplan does'nt work enough to allow WTLL to take place. now most of us think most of these sessions are a waste of time .....but it's a break off the floor nothing more now under "THE WAY FOFWARD" :chuckle are we owed time/ money or can we just whistle in the wind :whistle :shhhhh

Blue, i agree 100%, i always moan about wtll, its 30 mins , once a week, every week, and its time off the floor- id rather have a barny in the office as oppossed to sorting for 30 mins, christ its the only time you can have the dum squirming and heckle them, and you can get some sort of answers with a crowd of witnesses.

Like wtll or loath it, its 30 minutes less work during the week, pisses me off how many weeks there cancelled.

They keep cancelling ours due our Shift Manager saying it's due to "Operation Requirements"...

Wouldn't mind - but they THEN send us ALL over from the Mech area to the Packets to help them sort...
And after a while, you can work on points for style,
Like the club tie, and the firm handshake,
A certain look in the eye and an easy smile.

You have to be trusted by the people that you lie to,
So that when they turn their backs on you,
You'll get the chance to put the knife in.

If they're so understaffed in the Packets area, then what's your Rep dowing about it? :hmmmm
Surely they should be offering overtime, to bail them out, shouldn't they?

Do you mean that the Rep is unable to get Management to agree to overtime, or isn't even bothering to try?
If it's the former. Couldn't he/she use the lack of WTLL as leverage, to at least get overtime cover for one day a week, to allow them to take place?

Problem being they don't get any of the Mech Mail coming until about 1am from NDC..

They don't have people in over the weekend sorting the packets, so we USED to get bunged over there to help them clear whilst THEY went off for THEIR WTLL!!!

Since the new Network Revision (I.e staff in on Sunday morning/afternoon), they now clear the packets and don't touch the Mech!!
We come in on a Monday Night to loads of work!!

That's ludicrous!
I thought we had it bad, because we get printed copies of the WTLL, instead of a proper one, once or sometimes twice a month! And it only happens that often, during Autumn Pressure. It's very rare, for the rest of the year.

When it's seriously busy, we have our WTLL's near the end of the Shift, so we can be covered by overtime.

At B'ham MC, on the night shift, one of our managers is leaving this week after 30 odd years and he's bringing a load of food in to share with staff. We've already been told our WTLL session will be cancelled so staff can enjoy the food and 'say goodbye' to him!
Excuse me for being thick, but what difference would 10 minutes off the floor make to the operation? Mondays are a really quiet night anyway! Just another excuse for them to justify us not having our proper sessions again.
We're told mail volumes are down but our WTLL sessions are quite regularly cancelled nowadays due to 'operational requirements'... :Applause

If Mondays are quiet, then what possible "operational requirements" could prevent you having your WTLLs on Mondays?!? :arrrghhh

Well it's quiet on nights, but the late shift always seems to struggle to clear for some reason, and so we have to mop up for them. Probably down to cost-cutting and having less people in on overtime etc..

Same reason here........ Late Shift go on a "Go-Slow", leave all the boxes AND the Machine's full...

Be interesting to see if we get a WTLL session this week - cancelled AGAIN last week due to "Operational Requirements"
