It's beginning to sound like there was an Agent Provocateur at work here. Particularly as they knew exactly where to go, and there was no security to stop them. The plot thickens.....

Seen the news? So called perks! This thing could have gone away if the strikers got the same perks as the strike breakers that Walsh took away in the first place! Walsh is there to smash the Union. We as workers get LIED to every day of our working week and thats just RM, please dont buy into it. Our own Government have had a hand in killing well over 250.000 people as well as our brave service people on a LIE so its not new! Ask where the CCTV that catches a small group of pick pockets was when 200 people ran away from 100s of police officers that did not notice whilst this was going on? Ask why the staff of the hotel couldnt get help with 100s of police officers around the corner? Sorry but how thick do they think we are?

That's exactly why it's such a big problem that the talks were prevented. The longer this goes on, the longer the brave Trade Unionists will have to suffer. Particularly as some of them have to commute over large distances, which means flying (hence the need for the perks in the first place). And of course the fact that they're now loosing money from the Strikes, whilst their collegues who cross the Picket Lines, loose nothing.

They probably wouldn't have negotiated a settlement anyway. But that's not the point. There's always a possibility of a breakthrough. But that chance was taken away from them, by those protesters. They should have waited until the talks were concluded, before making their move. That way, they would have still been able to protest, but wouldn't have prevented the albeit slight, chance of a successful resolution.

It's interesting how perks are an ever increasingly important issue in industrial disputes.
I can forsee us having a good mandate for a fully justified strike in the future and the CWU then telling Royal Mail that we will go back to work immediately if they give us back our fifty stamps at Christmas.

Actually, should you reread the thread, you might see that I'm gently mocking the SWP rather than borders, so alternatively I could have written-

Well we look at things differently then. It would seem to be widely known that the cuts are agreed by the big wigs both BA and Unite the only sticking point would be the perks that that strike breakers get and Trade Unionist don’t. Unite said after that SWP? Farce give our members the perks back that you give to strike breakers and we will call the strikes off. These perks are a nothing to BA its the spare seats or jump seats that staff use, the same as our redi / keepsafe perks we enjoy ect at RM. ( How would you feel if the strike breakers got our perks and because you went out you didn’t get them? It seems a lot to us as postmen but these seats are EMPTY.
I agree fools went there to cause trouble but my point is IT SHOULD NEVER HAVE HAPPENED! HOW DID IT? It is not possible. If you don’t agree that’s fair enough but don’t brush over the issue and just say some loons spoilt this with out wondering and questioning why. At the end of the day it was the SWP not UNITE that did this? and Walsh wasted the chance to end this strike for the good of his firm, customers, shareholders and workers over bullsh*t and we all need to wonder why!

Who knows? In this particular case the poster didn't understand the point even when pointed out to him/her, and as a consequence took it down the "oooh I'm so insulted" route. Sadly posters don't like criticism of thier particular sacred cow..

Then again, RMC has been shown (in the 2007 yes vote, and again recently with another Yes vote; I won't even mention the ostrich-like denial of many to the "mail volumes ain't dropping threads!) to be a perfect example of so-called "group-think" and without wishing to sound too much like RMC's very own Wiki-man , it's obvious that many opinions on here have more to do with "wot he said" than any logical conclusion drawn by the individual, or any basis in fact.
