ok bumping this up

I was told i have my stage 2 meeting next week

Anyone know if this is watertight for them?

I was told that my 2 absences would be grouped together as they are the same thing

im furious

So went off in oct for 19 days with knee troubles

Stage 1 issued upon return

fair enough

I informed them and ATOS that i was concerned about a further absence when I had my op

my atos report to my dom even states, further absence will be necessary due to op/s

Now my manager said well it will probably be issued as you havent met the attendance procedure - last month i was off for 3 weeks following surgery

I may as well have just stayed off. what a s**t company eh

stage 2 here we come

Im due another op on my other leg ( same problem ) stage 3 = sacked what a joke :mfo :cfo :lfo :Very Happy

And yet in the Department for Work and Pensions - Statement of Fitness for Work - A guide for employers

Can I request a Medical Statement advising that my employee is 'fit for work'?
Unlike the sick note, the Statement of Fitness for Work does not include the option for doctors to advise someone that they are fully fit to work. You do not need to be fully fit to return to work, and it is a myth that an employee needs to be 'signed back' to work by a doctor. In some cases, there are existing procedures to ensure someone is fit to carry out their role safely and these should be followed - for example with the DVLA rules for LGV/PCV drivers. If you feel you need a medical opinion stating that your employee is fit for work you can enter into a private arrangement with a GP or occupational health specialist.

I think what your manager means is that it`s been `flagged` up at HR services as your breaking the attendance procedure.
Managers are supposed to take into account mitigating circumstances, and you`ve have them in my opinion, but we all know on Planet Royal Fail that managers are mostly only interested in looking good or ticking the right boxes so they can go lickety split up the ziggerole. :d'oh!

Your union rep should be able to rip them a new asshole though with the Atos statement for one.

Your manager doesn't have to issue the stage 2. It does say in the paperwork he receives that it's at the manager's discretion.

Go in with your rep, I'd threaten a grievance if it is issued as RM were informed after your last absence that further time off would be required. I also assume that you were given notice for your op and therefore didn't just go off with no warning so they were able to cover duties.

One Little s**t called Carl done that to me. Phoned me up and asked how I was, I was off with a chest infection and he just said I thought i would call you to ask how you were, i told him listen Carl you walk past me on the ips every day and never ask how i am, why today, don't ever call me again as long as you live, the sick note is self explantry. goodbye.

So im laid up feet up, you know and the phone rings

Its my Line manager, how am I blah blah

He then asks me if I can come back to work early , on light duties etc :funneh

I was kinda shocked and mumbled out er I dunno can you call me at the end of the week

So here I am 2 weeks into my 4 weeks of sick and he wants me to come back a week early

You know what managers are like, oh just come and do 3-4 hours a day blah blah, its my job to get you back to work, then we wont have to deal with ATOS.

tbh id rather they did deal with atos as im due another op on the other leg in 6 months or so

What shall I tell him when he calls me at the end of the week? f**k off? Personally I think he's taking the piss.

Im already on a stage 1 due to absence a couple of months ago when this problem flared up,i returned to work on modified duties under advice from atos ive been waiting for my op until now, and im due another op and mri scans soon. Ive also asked about how these absences will affect my stage warnings, as they are all related. And to be honest I dont trust RM or my managers as far as I can throw them. :wave ;liar

Correct

They had over 6 weeks notice of the op

And yes they knew further time off would be required
