I don't think any WTR is needed, is it, let alone a national or local ballot - and before you think I'm gonna cash the cheque with Leighton's sig on it, hear me out - it is true that we as a union cannot take part in WTR.....but it don't stop us working to the 318 ( a copy of which is going to be in your office - ask your rep ), and working to it as postmen, on a unilateral basis

So in a nutshell, if we have a local meeting, and decide to follow it, we are screwed....but if you decide off your own back ( just like all your mates ), then nothing to stop you - or have I under-estimated the stupidity of the management?
I don't suppose your mouth bleeds every 28 days, does it?

SOUTHEND MLO
WATFORD are doing this at the moment, using vans, getting pouches dropped off and cutting off,its manic.Line managers JNR manager,SNR managers and even their secretary's are out delivering mail.It put a smile on my face when i was doing my firms collection at 4.30 and i see 2 managers attempting to do a delivery. The small DO that serves my village where i live are at it as well,It put an even bigger smile on my face when i drove home in my car only to see another manager delivering at 6pm.

Lets hope more offices follow, after all its what we are supposed to do.

I hear Frodsham, St Helens, Widnes, Warrington and Birchwood started doing this yesterday.

just to correct a couple of people on this thread SOUTHEND ARE NOT WORKING TO RULE we are doing what it says on our duty details we are not coming in early we are not using our cars but we are having our meal reliefs and we are having up to 60 managers a day from all over anglia visiting our office seeing the sites and delivering our mail while our posties are forced to cut off.
also you may like to know that on top of managers delivering the mail we also have 1 manager in charge of 6 posties who are also available to drop people out on their deliveries and sometimes bringing their 2nd,3rd,4th,5th and other bags.

so if you have lost your manager give SOUTHEND MAIL CENTRE a ring he or she is probably lost somewhere here.

Newcastle Under Lyme have been doing this for a while too. They are not allowed to use their cars and it has put extra duties back in because in one section there was no crew bus to take the staff out. Staff are still coming in early though. :mad

WTR

Post by duffer 61 »

WTR causing major chaos at Southend. All staff start on time, taking breaks and no cars. When they flooded the office a few weeks ago with managers from all over the country, they were told it would take three days to break Southend. No chance, cut offs went through the roof.Every day work left in frames and and load of bags coming back.
Can't understand offices where this isn't going on.Why lose a days pay and then still do the work over the rest of the week for nothing?Managers and casual trying to deal with the backlog, not very succesfully either.

Spanner let's hope everyone will see the light soon. You and your mates are a credit to the union. We have been following this path since December last year and will continue to do so for the foreseeable future.

Our office discussed this a couple of years back, voted to not start before time.
Day 1 -no one starts before time, day 2- f### it floodgates open bodies in early left right and centre.
All that they are interested in is themselves.
Full timers due in at 5.15.I start at 4.30 to let first wave van in and have arrived to find postmen sitting on wall waiting for me to open up so they can get in at any possible mail they can, normally a wee bundle of walksort from the lunchtime van.It can be quite amusing to see their torn faces if there is nothing there for them to put up.

Well done my old office! (Not as if you would remember me, anyway  )
What's the latest on the delivery side, then?

I wish our Mail Centre was as militant as you ever were. We would not have the solids to put up with everyday.
