Hunt for youths after fire in Kettlehills Road

A STOLEN van was set on fire by a group of teenagers in Aberdeen, it was revealed this afternoon.

A white Ford Transit van, which belonged to the Home Delivery Network, was stolen from the Provost Fraser Drive area of Aberdeen as the driver was delivering parcels.

A Grampian Police spokesman said: “The driver of the van was carrying out deliveries at the time and there were around 80 parcels in the van, including electrical goods and clothing.”

But the Home Delivery Network van was later found after it was torched and firefighters were called to tackle the blaze at Aberdeen’s Kettlehills Road at 12.15am today.

A Grampian Police spokesman confirmed a group of youths aged between 16 and 18 had deliberately set the stolen van ablaze.

He added: “A white Ford Transit van was deliberately set on fire and was fully ablaze also damaging a nearby Mitsubishi Shogun.”

Grampian Fire and Rescue service crews took around 25 minutes to put out the fire in Aberdeen’s Kettlehills Road.
