hi out ther just wanted 2 ask a question 2 all the postmen out there , i have worked for the r mail for almost 26 years i unfortunatly was taken of my rural delv or shud i say removed from driving duties 4 a year ive had 1 rta a year 4 the last 7 years 5 of which i was deemed at fault which again i wud question , anyway just wanted 2 no if this has happened in other delivery offices ???

Yes - in my office drivers are removed from driving after 3 blame-worthies.

All accidents are blameworthy in my office, one person got one when the door got caught in a gust of wind (and wait for the jokes ).

Everytime a manager says anything about taking people off driving he gets caught in the rush to get off

I think you'll find that one of the guidelines of this forum is to not use 'text speak' , taking shortcuts when typing up a serious message may indicate that the person takes shortcuts in their driving too.

an accident a year for five years seems steep but i would assume some of those were of the trivial kind
ie clipped the farm gate reversing out etc.
and no leaway for the number of miles you clock up which statistically increases your chances!
though on paper it could look bad.

One of the guys in the office was told as he was the last person to drive the van, he must have caused the dents, then i pointed out to the manager they were the same dents i pointed out to him, two months previous.

Whats worse is it went in for a service last week, bet you can guess the one thing that didn't get repaired..... yep the door mirror !!

I am not a driver but i can tell you that if some one has an accident whilst driveing a Royal Mail wreck in our office it does seem that they get a blame worth for it,the managers will then be told they have to put the person back through the driving assesment on the computer,whilst they are waiting the driver does get taken off driving unless your the managers puppet then it all seems to go by the board.

they should be written in the log book so theres a point of reference

recently had a driver taken off driving because of an accident, two days later put back on because of manpower shortage on the saturday, returned to suspension on the following monday, you can hardly believe it eh!
