Sarcasm perhaps ?
I left school under the Tories with no jobs other than the WTS scheme which was of course a con for cheap labour. I then eventually got a job and ended up paying 7 weeks money a year for the POLL tax when 3 of us living in a small semi were paying more than Prince Charles.
I took the plunge and with my girlfriend bought a flat with the interest rate at 14% which crippled me for years and then as a reward I went into negative equity and could not afford to sell it.
So I am not a lover of the Tories way of running the country.

Re: At Last A Government To Put The GREAT Back In BRITAIN
I wanted to vote Green too, but also didn't have a candidate to vote for. So I voted for an Independant candidate, because if I'd have voted CONservative, Labour or LibDem, and the one I voted for got in, I couldn't have coped with the guilt. Because all 3 are as bad as each other, as we've seen by the fact that we now have a ConDem Government now.Aprilaydee wrote:Not at all. People voted for them to show the other two a thing or two as they didn't want to vote for either. I also think it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction which they'll come to regret, if they haven't already. People voted for them, NOT the CONservatives and some people feel extremely let down by the LibDems for joining with a party they really didn't want in power.andy2007 wrote:So you don't think that the majority of Lib/Dem voters, would have voted for them because of their policies then?![]()

Personally I thought that they wouldn't be much better than Labour or CONservatives, so I didn't vote for them. But considering how many other Parties are out there, and the fact that they're so far ahead of the others. To say that they were only voted for, by "tactical voters" is a bit nieve, don't you think?![]()
Surely a "tactical voter" would vote for an independant, or an obscure Party. So that it'd be totally impractical to form a working Government, and cause a fresh Election. Don't you think?
Of course, I'm not denying there's the hardcore LibDem loyalists who would've voted for them anyway but the fact remains that a lot of people voted for them merely as a way of saying to the other two parties that they didn't want them either. And look where that's got us.
Unfortunately, the majority of the great unwashed don't really tend to understand what's going on in politics and so are lead by the media. This is where I think that the papers etc shouldn't be allowed to say who they're backing just as they're not allowed to on the BBC. Give us the facts, yes. But saying "Oh this one's an idiot" and then bias all the reporting in favour of them and only bring up the bad stuff from the opposition isn't right.
I voted for which party would serve my constituency better as, after all, that's who we were meant to be voting for. The fact that it then determined who got to be prime minister is a result of that. We weren't voting for who we wanted as Prime Minister, we were voting for a party. If there had been an independant around here that had bothered to send me anything with their policies on or come and see me then I might've voted for them. I would probably have voted Green if there'd been a candidate standing for it here. But there wasn't. So, I voted for the lesser of the evils that appeared on my ballot paper (excluding the aforementioned invisible Independant candidate and the Christian Party...).
I wonder how many more seats the Greens would have had, if they were standing everywhere. I suspect they'd have done very well.
