Re: Wear and tear on joint in big toe
And then again the condition may be Hallux Rigidus.
What is Hallux Rigidus?
Hallux rigidus means "stiff big toe joint". This condition is a type of "wear and tear" arthritis in which the joint surfaces at one of the joints in your big toe begin to both wear away and develop extra bone, called osteophytes or ‘spurs’, that further limit motion. This joint is very important because it has to bend significantly with every step you take.

Re: Wear and tear on joint in big toe
funny how american websites are more informative than british ones..
that insole in the washington site is a bugga to wear. the aim is to raise the ankle by ten mm. yeah, you try wearing that inside a boot. makes your foot swell straight away and makes you feel like you're wearing a boot or shoe which is half a size too small

Re: Wear and tear on joint in big toe
ive got this problem.
i think it was caused by continually stubbing my toe on steps in my first year.
the job was / still is quite physically demanding and my legs were struggling sometimes to cope.
had a few falls because of this at the time as well.
im ok now i seemed to have adapted.
but i get sharp pains in the big toe joint at least a few times a week.
also i can feel my knees now which is a bit of a worry.
