Will be interesting to see how much support the lib dems now have in Scotland after going into a coalition with the Tories. Vote loser I would presume.
So what is this coalition? con/dem?
Yes I'm old enough to remember the last tory government and had to move close on 500 miles to find a job.
Cynical? Damn right I am.
Think RM will be first for privatisation, followed closely by big changes to the NHS

Oh and I despise the CONservatives. Not that I bear a grudge or anything, but Thatcher took my milk! I distinctly remember one day in playschool having milk and then the next day... no milk!! Must've had a profound psychological effect if I can remember it over 25 years later. I can't remember what happened 25 minutes ago nevermind 25 years!
Oh and we mustn't forget the huuuuyuuuuuge interest rates.

We've effectively gone back to a 2 party system now. Some people voted Lib Dem because they didn't want to vote for the other 2 but that's massively backfired now.

I am a socialist and a long time labour supporter, but in the truth this government had run its course, which happens after a long period in power. There's hardly a cats whisker between any of the parties at the moment and for those hankering after the lefty Labour days and union power can forget it, they'll never be electable and the once cosy relationship has been shown up for what it is, the membership of a union is their cash cow and they are Labours cash cow. The respective expectations are secondary to the organisation.

Re: At Last A Government To Put The GREAT Back In BRITAIN
So you don't think that the majority of Lib/Dem voters, would have voted for them because of their policies then?
Personally I thought that they wouldn't be much better than Labour or CONservatives, so I didn't vote for them. But considering how many other Parties are out there, and the fact that they're so far ahead of the others. To say that they were only voted for, by "tactical voters" is a bit nieve, don't you think?
Surely a "tactical voter" would vote for an independant, or an obscure Party. So that it'd be totally impractical to form a working Government, and cause a fresh Election. Don't you think?

Not at all. People voted for them to show the other two a thing or two as they didn't want to vote for either. I also think it was a bit of a knee jerk reaction which they'll come to regret, if they haven't already. People voted for them, NOT the CONservatives and some people feel extremely let down by the LibDems for joining with a party they really didn't want in power.andy2007 wrote:So you don't think that the majority of Lib/Dem voters, would have voted for them because of their policies then?![]()

Of course, I'm not denying there's the hardcore LibDem loyalists who would've voted for them anyway but the fact remains that a lot of people voted for them merely as a way of saying to the other two parties that they didn't want them either. And look where that's got us.
Unfortunately, the majority of the great unwashed don't really tend to understand what's going on in politics and so are lead by the media. This is where I think that the papers etc shouldn't be allowed to say who they're backing just as they're not allowed to on the BBC. Give us the facts, yes. But saying "Oh this one's an idiot" and then bias all the reporting in favour of them and only bring up the bad stuff from the opposition isn't right.
I voted for which party would serve my constituency better as, after all, that's who we were meant to be voting for. The fact that it then determined who got to be prime minister is a result of that. We weren't voting for who we wanted as Prime Minister, we were voting for a party. If there had been an independant around here that had bothered to send me anything with their policies on or come and see me then I might've voted for them. I would probably have voted Green if there'd been a candidate standing for it here. But there wasn't. So, I voted for the lesser of the evils that appeared on my ballot paper (excluding the aforementioned invisible Independant candidate and the Christian Party...).

40% of the people never even voted in the election!
I agree that the left in this country seem to have no way out of the cage that Tony Blair and New Labour Built.
But future events beyond the control of the political establishment will make the majority of people think again.
Britain no longer rules the waves and Americas days as the only Super power are over.
Emerging economies in China.India,Brazil etc will have more say in how the world is shaped and i cant see them giving a toss about their old masters in the west,so no matter who one this election there will be big changes to the consumer society that prevails in our country and other western democracies.
The real power is the elite that operate in the shadows of parliament, these people are international money men and can jump ship any time they like.
apart from that everything is spiffing!

Yeah, Labour did it for a laugh and because they knew it was so unpopular ... unless ... just perhaps .. there are other reasons more important than the those Average Joe reads in the bullshite newspapers.jockstrapp wrote:After 13 years of Labour rule in which time they have sold of our gold reserve on the cheap, taken us into two wars, let in any amount of immigrants and totally F#CKED the country we now have a government who can put the GREAT back into BRITAIN.
