I used to just tell people to just contact Royal Mail when they moaned about D2Ds then walk off (only if they really got angry tho because I got paid for each D2D) and after a year and a half I have 1 opt out on my delivery. Now I'm going to hand out a customer service number and specifically tell them which number on the card to call and what to ask for in order to opt out. I'm not going out my way to get customers to opt out but if they ask from now on I'll tell them exactly what to do about it.

After that, let's ask all the magazines to go online only, when we've finished with that, gas leccy and phone,we could do them as well,we could perhaps ask anyone left who sends out mail to stop doing it.

Fish factory anyone?
Yippee no more Saga mags.....seriously I deliver to the "wrinklies" not "Silver Surfers" :nana They will always get mail the old fashioned way

Maybe when you are old POSTMAN you will use the internet for all your need :shhhhh How long till them?

I would rather deliver to all than have a few rogue delivery points that you have to weed out from your frame!

RM would, they kept Crazier when he signed of the DSA directive 3 years early, costing the company millions, and us 1000's of jobs, with more to come.
Nice work if you can get it. :evil/mad

Would be good to get one over on the firm wouldn't it!
Oh yeah, terrific! Whilst our jobs disappear up the swanee. Are you really keen to see the company lose business and shed jobs as a result?

The guy who suggested this wasn't sacked but removed from delivery and retrained on indoor work at local mail centre
i believe he left about 2 years later.
The customers who do not require d2d items have to contact customer care in writing requesting non delivery
if they are persistent they will get their way and an instruction (red dot) will be issued to walk bundling centre.
however what they are not told is after 2 years they are taken of list and reinstated for d2d deliveries.
They would then have to reapply all over again. (hassle) that Royal Mail hopes will put them off.
I used to have about 10 on my duty but am now down to 2 and they will come off shortly.
When i explained to a customer what they had to do i was told look just put mine in the BIN will you.
I had to explain that if i claimed then i could get sacked, she was shocked by this so i told her to write to D.O.M.
She did but did not get the help she wanted and now as i deliver she puts d2d's straight into recycling box.

Goodness, who's swallowed the company pill on here?

D2D's are vermin.

They're a pain in the ass to prep and deliver, we never got a fair rate of pay for them compared to what other people get for delivering leaflets and on top of it all no-one seems to want them.

It shows what a shambles this company has become if they've become such an important income stream.

i think wen u get to 5,6 ,7 then posties will struggle to do them and their normal round
i know the walk sort machines are coming in but we are last in hp so we will suffer til 2012
wat i think is do the late staff get the 20 quid and they never do d2d or the night staff as they gain we lose im losing over 3 for 20£

That post says it all really. Let them throw what they want at us, as you only have to work till your time. Then let managment sort the rest out simples!!!!
Our doms are already flapping about people not merging walks and covering sick/holidays etc and were short staffed as it is and struggle to cover walks now.

Modernisation eh?? The dogs bollox aint it :funneh

In this modern day age, why are RM weighing down our bags/trolleys with all this D2D marketing?

Why not set up an official e-mail address (maintained by RM themselves) for everyone in the UK and use e-mails instead of all this "wasted" paper? :arrrghhh

Granted, some homes (especially older generation) may not have a computer or an internet connection... So sell them a basic/cheap PC and broadband! :nana

RM diversifies, they can take marketing off as many companies as want to use the RM service, we get less load to carry and have better long-term health prospects! Win-win!! :dance

Yes we might have less to carry but a direct result of that would be we would need less workers to both process and deliver it and a secondary result would be that with less to carry we would need to walk further.
